So, fandoms are colliding. Case in point:
  • Bones having Angel's Angel and Hamilton together in a scene.

  • Medium having Firefly's Badger and Niska together in a scene.

I just...thought I'd point that out? Because I kinda want to do art about it but not now?

Speaking of Medium, I watched the third episode with Mark Sheppard (although really, the first one is a lie, because it has Mark saying two lines and then it's nothing but sitting there staring at the screen, consumed by lust, waiting for his character to show up again and he never does, at least not Mark-shaped). It made me rant at the screen.

So I'm going to rant at the screen again, in typed form. Because GRR ARGH. In which a woman is in labour and I do not agree with solution - and sentiments. )

bending_sickle: (Obsessive)
Today at the internship I returned to the translations, which is sort of a relief on account of the lack of interminable scanning, and on the other hand, it's me, back where I started. I need this oompf to get me a little bit further now.

There was another metro&bus strike this morning, which meant I got to go to the office's neighbourhood a full hour before work actually started and, plus, I got to freeze my bum off sitting and walking around the sad, empty little streets.

Mom's off to Spain starting this morning, so it's just my Dad and me until Wednesday. I trust we won't starve, although to hear my mother speak and see her stock the freezer, you'd think we didn't know how to feed ourselves. Mind you, I think I'm having McD's tomorrow.

Tomorrow, speaking of, I'm going to head over to the far reaches of the city and try and get my fiscal number. It will undoubtably involve a lot of waiting and hopefully not too much paperwork. Beurocracy for the not at all win.

I've spent the afternoon revelling in having the house to myself and working on almost a week's worth of Links of the Day (oh, compulsive organization!) On Sunday Dad and I are going to see a Swan lake ballet showing - we managed to nab free tickets from our landlady for some reason. I think I might force myself to go jogging sometimes in the weekend too, and I have to write a comment in a Goethe forum for my German homework (how wack is that?).

In other news, I'm dying to finish The Pillars of the Earth and hey, new Supernatural this week again! \o/ I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Puppy!Sam. Ah, it's almost like seeing Season 1 Sam all over again! (Except he doesn't have the adorable bangs of adorableness.)

Random Points Along the Sickle Line:
  • I'm currently reading House Rules by Jodi Piccoult (now with podcast!), and I've reached the point where I'm just devouring the thing. It's a really interesting story about a teenage with Asperger's syndrome who's accused of murder. Although I'm rarely into crime novels, this one has a large dash of forensic science as the main character is fascinated by the subject and that aspect of it is one I can really get into. Curiously, I'm also following the law aspect of it quite well and even enjoying it, even though I'm not usually into the intricacies of courts and lawyers and judges and prosecuters and so on. I keep trying to figure out the whodunnit of the novel, much like the other book of hers I've read, Plain Truth. I'm almost at the Big Reveal part of the novel \o/

  • I've gotten all five of the fanmixes for Time We Saw a Miracle all set up except for the final file editing and posting. That was a lot of work, but I'm really happy with them.

  • There's four people from whom I'm waiting to hear from, and have been waiting for going on a month now. Read more... )

  • The week hasn't been fantastic. Nothing productive was actually achieved, drama was had, and German kicked my ass. However, on the plus side? There's people I can count on, and those people are my darlings. Except [livejournal.com profile] seschat. She's my squishy. ♥

In other news, I wrote a letter in German. I think I also broke the word order and a couple declinations. Help? Point and laugh?

Today I applied for another internship, ate by mself, watched a bit of Going Postal (Poirot!) then joined mom downtown for yet another (unsuccessful) search for sandals and summer clothes.

A brand name caught my eye and gave me instant plot-bunnyitis, which is something I've been trying to get out of my system for the past couple of hours. Almost 600 words later and I'm still just setting up the story, have yet to get to the actual beginning of the reveal, but I'm loving it. I seem to have a thing for fallen angels and apocalypses. Yay for the oomf behind creativity!

There seems to be a lot of that running around lately, if the completed fanmix and (tiny little bit of) work on the fanvid are anything to go by. Speaking of, I'm glad I've discovered that Mediafire tells you how many times something's been downloaded. I mean, I'd be freaking out over no one giving a shit because there's only the one comment, but hey! Downloads are happening! Yay! (Still, comments are always nice. Not that I often do so with fanmixes, either, but hey.)

Also, I caught the last fifteen minutes of an episode of Lie to Me which has Tim Roth so I went :) and he was bloody, on the ground and at gun-point and I was like :D and then I saw that the gun-totin' villain was Cromartie aka John Henry so I was all \o/

Y'all remember my bumping into a friend at Einstein's last week, who suddenly remembered I existed and said, at the door as I was leaving and she arriving, that she needed to talk to me. At my "Should I be worried?" (as in, "What the fuck are you on about?") she didn't care to elaborate. After promising to call, text or facebook (or suggesting I do it), she finally contacts me a week later. Cue drama. )

We're on Day 2 of Student Life (i.e. Sickle's working on her report, yays!). We're also starting Week 2 of Back In Holland (a.k.a. I Miss My Boy!). Not so much with the yay.

And I've been coughing so much and so often my ribs are bloody tired and sore.

Don't really know what to say, guys. I'm slowly adapting to life back in Holland (or life back as the sucky version of me, which...sucks).

Apparently I can only write about my day once. As in, if I send a detailed email about my days, I can't post about it, or write in my diary about it. "It's been written already!", my head says. "Don't make me go over it all over again!"

I'm sorry to say I haven't started working on the [livejournal.com profile] amboseli blog - and my brother had the audacity to say that no one'd care to read it now that I'm back in Holland. Jerk. ...oh gods I hope he's wrong. But! I'm gonna.

In other news...it's still cold in the university's computer labs. Grr. Tomorrow have meeting with supervisor (ye gods save me!).

And oh yeah, Elisa's bloody leaving for Japan in less than two weeks!!!. Sucky! Very sucky! I haven't seen her since end of November! Selfishly, also, once she leaves I'll be pretty much alone in Leiden. Am very good friends with Willemijn (research buddy), but she's a) in Amsterdam and b) has a social group of her own. So yay.

...I am so behind on LJ, it's ridiculous. I'm only caught up on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes and [livejournal.com profile] lienne. Mah priorities, let me show you them!

Television-wise, there's Jon Stewart, Lost, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, Ashes to Ashes and Supernatural to catch up on. House and Bones are a bonus. CSI if I have loooaaaads of time. Torchwood if it's there. Wowza. I've been gone a while.

Ah, screw it. It's 5 o'clock, I'm going home. Lunch and Lost, here I come!

I've been going back to a few old obsessions of mine lately. I've been back to the dmeb2, checked out the message board and squeed at recognizing names and signature lines. (ScottMaul! MaulMaus!) Oh, how I miss lurking there... I may've posted, what, twice? (Black Aliss was I.)

I've also gone through the Planet of the Apes 2001 (trailer) sites, cursing the idiot who took the official site down. (I'll never forgive 'em. It was so chocak-a-block full of stuff! Info!)

I don't quite know how to explain what I feel for this movie. It's a really frustrating movie for me to watch, I'll rant at it incessantly (and seriously, I need to record an ongoing-rant because I pick the shit out of it - and you thought Momo needed a Science Stick beating), but... There's some bits where I feel like forgiving it everything. (Oh, Tim Roth, you beautiful man you.)

Video to refresh your memory )

But anyway, rant a-hoy. This is an easy rant, because it's about the ending. Not what I consider the ending, because my brain blanks out the last five minutes of the film, but the actual ending nonetheless. I don't even try ranting at the ending usually, because it's just so beyond everything... See? It makes me incoherent, that's how fucked up it is.

Now, [livejournal.com profile] evadne_noel once described it in her Breadbox Edition (which she's totally welcome to start doing again pleasepleaseplease):

MARK flies off toward THE ENDING. THE ENDING runs MARK down, and then promptly sits on the AUDIENCE'S head.

This is completely accurate. (If you haven't watched the movie, I'm afraid YouTube can't help with the head-sitting. Alas.)

Anyway, why am I in rant-mode? Some people think the ending made sense. Some people obviously weren't watching the same movie I was. Cut for spoilers on the off-chance you haven't watch it and really, really want to sometime. )

This is my third Update page open. One's Links of the Day (or Weeks) and the other is another meta of an Ongoing Post. Because I'm a freaky pack-rat, 's why. I realize I'm been utterly suckety at posting recently, but honest to Pete I've been busy. Plus, having those Update pages open and incomplete sort of sucks the life out of me.

I'm just now having supper**, 'cause we had a House Meeting, wherein us flatmates discussed annoyances and tasks. That started at 8:30 pm. Most of it was delightful chatting, resulting in my mentally exclaiming, "I love my flatmates!" (Well, except for the stint of, "Don't leave, I want to smoke a cigarette! Don't want to smoke it alone!" which to me translates as, "Sit and inhale carcinogens! I demand it!" without so much as an "Do you mind if I smoke." But maybe I'm being particularly grouchy because my clothes still stinks like a giant ashtray from hell thanks to this weekend's activities. Whe, long parenthesis.) I do not love the firealarm, which is beeping, even when the battery's taken out. So I'll be having a restless and nervous night, full of beeping. Le suck.

What else have I been doing? Been editing my draft, occasionally spazzing out 'cause I've got say 2 articles which are Courchamp et al. 1999 and I didn't distinguish between them in the draft. So now I need to go through 'em and figure out what info came from which. In general, though, it's pretty good. I'm also thinking of putting in some pictures (See previous post's Links of the Day), 'cause pictures are neat.

I also realize I haven't posted my pictures of Belgium (or Tulips), but I swear, I'm going to do it. I even tried uploading them over the weekend, but 1) inernet death and 2) photobucket death.

I don't quite know what I'm going to do with myself this week, TV-wise. I mean, there's no Lost or Doctor Who, and I've gone through the finales of all the shows I used to watch. (Well, except CSI, which is tonight's viewing.) My first Bones viewing in ages, and it starts off with Booth's funeral. I was ready to hit someone (until matters cleared up a bit). 'Cause I love Booth, y'all.***
