Zumba today was awesome, although I was uncoordinated again for the bits where left arms and right feet have to do things together. I dripped sweat, and I'm not the sweating kind! I've failed in my google-fu to find my favorite song of the class.
Einstein yesterday was pretty brilliant. Gab's had suggested we go to Einstein when she saw she'd missed my text from the weekend (who can blame her: she was in France!). I asked her when abouts she was planning on going, and not only did she tell me, but she texted me was she was getting ready to go, so we made it there almost at the same time. Yay, no awkward hanging about alone at a bar! Her Italian friend Dario was with, which was great 'cause he's really nice (and looks like Joaquin Phoenix, which is really nice). I bumped into Melissa, the portuguese girl, and we chatted about Drei Oktober celebrations. We were also joined by Azdine, who's also French (and has eyelashes to put Nestor Carbonell, aka Richard Alpert's to shame) and Oliver, who's Dario's roommate, Italian/English, and really nice to talk to. Through them I also met two German girls who seem really sweet. One's even celebrating her birthday on Friday (though technically it's on Saturday) and she said I was plenty welcome, so I'll be joining the French-and-Italian gang for some festivities. This is all awesome and I'm all a-squee about my social life of late.

Teresa Rabal - Veo Veo
Teresa Rabal - El tren
Teresa Rabal - Las cuatro ranitas
Back when I was wee and my parents still used the record player, I'd listen to Teresa Rabal's record of children's songs all the time. My favorite started off with, "Un pantalón le dijo al cinturón, que de noche en el armario no se puede ya dormir." (One pair of pants told the belt that one can't sleep anymore at night.) It then went on about how the shirts snored and other anthropomorphic wonders like that. I love that album to bits. ♥
Los mundos de Yupi - Capítulo Satrón, Primera Parte
My childhood summers at my gran's were mainly spent playing on the staircase or huerta or biking the dusty tracks through the country. When I did watch TV, there wasn't a whole lot of choice, what with there being two channels. But choice wasn't needed when it came to Yupi, a giant yellow alien darling. He's my childhood's Big Bird. (I was never a Sesame girl.)
La abeja Maya
While my brother was more a fan of this show when he was small than I was, I got to rather like it (mainly because there was nothing else on Spanish TV in the summer). Now my brain can't decide whether it's La abeja Maya or Maya l'abeille, but either way, there is squee.
El libro de la selva, cuarta parte - La ley de la selva, primera parte
Ah, more Spanish childhood television. This was something I wished they'd played more of. It's a The Jungle Book cartoon, but...what is it, anime-style? I don't know, and I never cared, because omgthejunglebookisawesome.
Music For the Masses:
I've discovered Mademoiselle K. I love Jalouse (and the video's brilliant). I also think I should take Ca Me Vexe as my retroactive battle cry, back when I was feeling that way. Embedded below is a song about not knowing whether you're more an XX or an XY.

Date: 2009-10-01 10:38 pm (UTC)They would totally play those at the hotels in Turkey every day for the kids' entertainment (still do actually).
I'd have no idea what the songs were about, but gosh darnit I'd have them memorised after the 3rd day xD

Date: 2009-10-02 07:32 am (UTC)Oh, Turkey, you so weird I gotta love ya :) I'm kinda delighted they're playing the songs there, but I would freak out in confusion if I were there. Cool, though!
