bending_sickle: (Can't we just cuddle?)
I keep meaning to make a post and then I blink and end up somewhere in the deep bowels of Tumblr and it's the wee hours and I don't know what's going on anymore. Sorry about that. It's just so shiny.

So I'm still in "yay, it's the holidays!" mode, made especially easy because I'm a whole country away from my life, staying mellow in just south of Barcelona with my aunt and uncle. I've had the occasional thought of "I should email that person" and "I should send some CVs" but for the most part it's been bliss.

I achieved the purpose of my travel here in under ten minutes. Read more... )

I've finally finished sprucing up Nanowrimo 2011 and have been thinking a lot about Nanowrimo 2012 (because of course I'm doing it). I think I've got a better grip on it than this year's, although that's mainly because I'm moving the great big plotty things to the background as flashforwards, so hopefully I'll be better able to manage them and not get bogged down with the bits in between. I'm almost done with the omnibus of my short stories too, which is awesome. I just need to work on the covers.

I haven't watched The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King yet, despite this past weekend having been slated for it. I did, though, watch Person of Interest 1x10 and omg. Finally, finally, I cared about the characters, and that incldues the lead ones. I even got a bit wibbley when Reese's day took a nose-dive into no-good, very-bad, and that was only partly because the screen was punching all my kink buttons. And Finch's mini-litle freak out of guilt was wonderful. And continuity! Yes, show, yes. I think I might start to like you now.

Sometimes, I feel it's most important that people know and believe the truth – which is passion, but also no small degree of arrogance, to imagine I know such a thing. But other times, I feel it's best they believe whatever comforts them, regardless of my ideas of truth (and fact), so long as they do as little harm as possible. But that's pretty much the whole of the Law, isn't it? (Rhetorical question.)

Nanowrimo, Day 27: Writing almost-sex scenes with kittens as a reward for every 100 words feels really rather wrong. Tomorrow, more sex! Who needs plot anyway?

People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.

Nanowrimo, Day 26: Today was shitastic, emotionally-speaking, and I realized this morning that I don't know if I like the novel or am scared of it because gods damn it, it's really just the first half of what this novel is trying to be, which means that these forty-off thousand words are just useless fluff. (This is not true, but it feels like it when I try to think of just what, exactly, has actually happened in the novel. This is also how I felt about the last two novels.) So I wrote a panic attack and some sexual tension between bouts of Whose Line is it Anyway?

Nanowrimo, Day 20: I don't know what's going on anymore. Words are just happening. The plot's run away and died somewhere. Things keep disappearing. Goddamn angels. *head-desks* What is climax. What is denoument. What is plot. What is the point of this novel? What are words?!?

Nanowrimo, Day 18: I have written over 2700 words today. Asldfkjsd. I'm finally - finally - caught up. (Unless you want to be technical and say I'm behind on November 19th's word count, to which I say, "It's two in the fuckin' morning!") However, plot has advanced (a little) and there's more Chip/Icarus shmoop as well as Chip/Steve (in the hopes that one day [livejournal.com profile] seschat will forgive me for all the other things I do to Steve).

Nanowrimo, Day 15: I might write a bit more later, but for now, word count success (50%, whoot!) and I've pretty much reached a point where I just throw my hands in the air and say, "What the fuck now?" The answer may include more flashbacks and angst. I haven't written any Kezef in a while, and that's not good. In other news, back to work tomorrow.

Nanowrimo: Bad writing day today, mainly because I was full of apathy and wibbles and couldn't get around to writing. Still, I've reached an easy bit (Agatha's always fun to write, and spell-time is always fun), so tomorrow ought to be smooth. No idea where the plot is going from there, but...

Nanowrimo, Day 13: There's some bits I wrote today that I have no idea whether they make sense but at least they've been written and the plot has moved along in the right direction. Even if I'm still not sure how Crowley's needled his way into the gang.

Nanowrimo, Day 12: 695 words written, mainly because I was avoiding writing all day and now I'm too sleepy to push on. Hell, 2721 words tomorrow is totally doable, right? If I don't do anything else?

ETA: How to write an additional 750 words when you desperately need to sleep but are afraid of your word count eating you: write Steve/Chip angst. A lot of angst. The almost-really-dead kind. ([livejournal.com profile] seschat's going to hate me, aren't you, darling?) This leaves only slightly less than 2000 words for tomorrow, which is less scary.

Nanowrimo, Day 11: Somehow most of what I've written today is either Crowley and Icarus talking, or Crowley and Icarus talking in the past. I'm trying to figure out what the hell these two have plotted but they're not talking. So Crowley's coming to the camp. Because of reasons. I don't know what's going on anymore. And there's still a demon attack to write, an angsty couple of Steve-memories, and, oh yeah, the angels to find and do something plotty to. And Kezef needs more page-time. I can't even.

Nanowrimo, Day 9: \o/ Finally got to introduce Crowley. Saving most of the snark for tomorrow (broken up with a scene of Kezef), but I think I'm going to enjoy this next bit. There's a lot going on and Crowley's going to be exposition man. Or, more realistically, "Oops, you didn't want them to know that, did you? Oh dear, angel, whatever are you going to do."

Just barely over today's word count. I need to get a good head start this weekend. Why does Novemeber have to end on a week-day?
