Random Thoughts of the Day:

All the while I was reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower I not only felt like crying, but also had the strange desire to write out the book as letters and actually send them to someone on the dates the letters were dated.

I wonder whether anyone's made the fanmix that Charlie made in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. likewinning has a fanmix, but it's original. I'd just really like to hear the mix tape that Charlie made. I might have to make it myself, I guess...

The English language - and infact, every language - really out to have a two forms of "we": one that's inclusive and one that's exclusive, so that you can have the situation where a group of people are together and one says to another, "We're going to a party," and the person knows whether they are included or not. I mean, there should be a "we but not you" and a "we including you" form.

It's dad's birthday today, so it's booze and gluttony day! It'll be my birthday on Sunday, and we will undoubtably also revel in food and drink.

I will not, however, revel in Supernatural. "What kind of fuckery is this?" you might say. Well, my parents and I are taking a long weekend off to drive south and be tourists. We'll leave Friday afternoon and be back on Monday afternoon.

What does that mean? It means 1) spoil me and die, 2) squee with me about the premiere come Tuesday or so, yes?

In other news, I might just have fallen in love with one of the local stray cats of our neighbourhood. Y'all might remember Greebo, the one-eyed, canine-lacking, white-and-grey, affectionate stray that hangs around my apartment building meowing, "Pet me! Pet me!"

Well, he was there today, meowing hello, and I dutifully petted and scritched and rubbed to the soundtrack of delighted purring. Then I walked off to take the metro and my heart promptly melted because Greebo followed me, trotting behind and around and in front. It's so heartwarming to have a little furry thing walk beside you ♥ He followed me for over half a block, then sat down and watched me go. Oh, Greebo, if I had a home and money, I'd take you in right quick.

This afternoon, when I got back home, there he was, splayed out in a doze. The petting was resumed, now with belly rub! And at one point I was scratching his neck and chest and Greebo just lay in blissed-out stillness. ♥ so much.

RKipling, "Four-Feet"

It's Saturday. I've cleaned the house, been to the market and had the requisite kibbeling and stroopwaffel lunch, asked questions galore at the knitting store and hung out at the computer lab trying to work and, eventually, working. Until, that is, I got kicked out (they were closing).

So here I am, feeling utterly exhausted and guilty over work and eyeing the laundry like it might just decide to wash itself if I pout hard enough. (No luck so far.) So instead of anything else, I'm going to cuddle under my comforter - btw, I miss my old apartment's couch liek woah - and have lemon flavoured tea, chocolate-covered cookies, and Batman Begins (about 2 weeks behind schedule).

In other news, and before the imminent zoning-out, I was reading The Editing Room's Abridged Screenplay of TDK earlier, and ran head-first against a wall against the funny. ( Explanation goes here. )

Gods know I don't like inflicting bad poetry on the poor undeserving masses. Still, if any of you'd be kind enough to check out this post on

sickle_stories, I'd appreciate it. It's a rearrangement of a "spam poem" - i.e. a mess of lines gotten in spam - which seems to be the spam spawn** of a load of winter poems from the Chicago Press Winter Poems Collection.

I've got a few different variations for one stanza I'd particularly like input on.

But, you know, no pressure.

I also got a Hallmark E-Card from "tokenblackchick" - she who promised to do so for all who replied to her Valentines YouTube post on how much singles rule. That was very nice of her.

Dreamt I took the train one station too far and instead of Cubelles I exited in Montreal. Momentary confusion gave way to blissful joy and a sense of coming home.
