*feeble wave* So, not dead yet. Sick with a cold and sunburnt all to hell, making clothes an instrument of torture, but alive. The Cliffnotes of my life are:

  1. the phone interview went terribly and I sucked and it was aweful

  2. consequently I've been unable to do any more jobhunting, meaning I fail at everything

  3. everything is The Avengers and Loki and everything hurts, but it's a better thing than points one and two so yays

  4. speaking of which, I wrote fanfic drabble thingies for The Avengers because I had questions and feelings

  5. I also finally finished a Supernatural fanvid I started sometime in 2009 \o/

  6. I'm also working on putting [livejournal.com profile] seschat and my Sherlock headcanon to [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories. Part 1 of 18 is up.

  7. so it kinda looks like I'm being productive.

So have some thingies:

Fanfic and Meta: Seschat and Sickle's Holmes Bros Headcanon, Part 1 of 18

Fanfic: In the Mountains There is the Promise
Fandom: The Avengers
Word Count: 1,223
Summary: What happened between Loki's defeat and his and Thor's departure? (i.e. I had a lot of questions)

Fanvid Title: More Than This
Music: "Push" by Moist
Fandom: Supernatural
Summary: You have become your father's gun. A study (of sorts) of John Winchester's effect on the boys and the hunter's life. "Is this what you want / what you need / what you wanted me to be?"

Quote of the Day: [livejournal.com profile] greygirlbeast, here
If I have to be someone other than who and what they would have me believe their god made of me (or made me weak enough I might become), if it's all that sick and twisted and sadistic, why would I want to dwell in the house of that lord? Maybe the truest mark of human intellectual evolution is giving our "gods" the middle finger.

Okay, so I'm being incredibly shitting at posting lately. That's simply because the day is too bloody short and I can no longer just hook up the internet via IV direct into my bloodstream like I used to. I've done Things, like:

Wednesday and Thursday I have no idea what happened. Probably not zombies.

Friday I walked for hours and hours in the heat with blisters all over Rome trying to find the spot marked down on my map where I could find a second-hand sale of English books, only to discover, upon arrival, a note stuck on the door saying that if there were a transport strike - which apparently there was, but it was very discrete - the sale would be canceled. Cue Sickle sitting down on the steps and crying in frustration.

Saturday I went to Ostia Antica (which was awesome) by myself (which was even better) and took lots and lots of photographs (which I will share....eventually).

Sunday I went to Castel Gandolfo with my parents (which was right next to where we'd gone the other time, Genzano di Roma) and it went well except for the whole "with my parents" bit which did nothing but result in heartache and anger and utter, utter crap.

After that I went downtown to have dinner with Friend C from Italian class and we talked about cultures, countries, immigration, friendships and the like for four fucking hours and my brain could not take that much socializing and talking but it was nice nonetheless.

Today I went with mom to the neighbourhood where we used to live, back when it was still the 1980's and I recognized our parking lot and it was okay except for the whole "with mom" bit.

I spent most of yesterday writing a blog entry in my head for Blog Like it's the End of the World Day and let me tell you, your day becomes much more interesting once you put on the mindframe of, "What if the zombiepocalypse happens right now?" Unfortunately, I didn't have the energy to write the entry and then today I saw that no one had BLITEOFW anyway. Still, I was hit over the head by a sentence and therefore wrote a zombie drabble. It's here at [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories.

I also copy/pasted a cracked-out drabble I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] seschat onto [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories. It's called Eliminate the Impossible and crosses Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man and House, M.D.. Yeah...

Wee! I managed to whip up some edits of my waaay-on-the-backburner fanvid for all of one verse yesterday. Sure, there's a scary-long (almost one minute) guitar bit coming up which I have no idea how to fill, but... Oh, who am I kidding, it scares the bejeebus outta me. On the other hand: progress!

Today I finally edited the introduction entry of [livejournal.com profile] amboseli and finally caved and made a separate Spanish-version [livejournal.com profile] amboseli_es. That one is still very much not-worked-on, but I've promised myself (again) to do this.

I've decided that [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories ought to be better organized in terms of prompts and WIPs and scenelettes. As if I had time, right? Oy. I've done the Fanvids Prompt Masterlist, and flocked it. (Shock! Horror! But really, I don't think I want my plotbunnies running free.) I'm working on the Fanfic Prompt Masterlist, and there's a lot of summeries where I can only write "Fuckery ensues." Oy again.

And I've also printed out guitar chords, but haven't had time to practice. Oh, Betsy...

I've sworn up and down I'll wake up early tomorrow. It's now past midnight. This doesn't bode well.

Over on [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories, I've been working on gathering quotes for the essay I swear I will totally write some day, Real Heroes Give Up: On Personal Sacrifice for the Cause. It's all still very preliminary (what with most of the shows being dead and gone and dusty in my memory bank), but if you guys have any examples, feel free to share 'em. (Credit will be given, obviously. I am a student: crediting is practically instinct by now.)

There's also a crack!idea and more on the SPN/Threshold concept.

Those contents have sort of sucked up all my time for this evening.

In other news:

a) Have an oral exam tomorrow on the Textbook Self Study thing.

b) My arm's itching like a bugger. (Yay last rabies vaccine!) *writhes and squirms*

G'night.

Caitlin Kiernan's Threshold and Supernatural would go fantastically well together, particularly Dancy Flammarion's past.

I'm working on collecting quotes and screencaps from both sources. See the maddness here!

One day, I swear to my dear and fluffy Lord, I'll actually sit down and do more than just note down and neurotically expand on ideas. I'll actually do them. Shock! Horror!

I'm actually quite serious about wanting to do some fanvids and fanfics, but I get can't sit the muse down to focus on one project. Instead she takes crack and rambles on and on about different ideas that's be pretty swell.

This SPN/Threshold concept is one of those I'm pretty serious about, although I've got a clearer idea of it as a fanvid or fake trailer than I do as a fanfic. *sigh*

There's a lunar eclipse going on (veeeery slowly) or I'm a duck.

I baked peanut butter cookies this morning and went to the beach this afternoon, and when I came back my uncles were out (and still are) so I've had supper and am now going stir crazy because there's nothing on TV or the internet (crazy, I know).

Jotted down The Dark Knight Fanvid ideas and wrote a bit of Hero's Manual, but am now too bored and fuzzy headed to do anything substantial.

Off to YouTube for Joker clips. (Remember, crazy-ass psychotic bastardy villains are exactly my cup of tea.)

Just got harder and harder each day*

I'm in a really bizarre set of moods today, which is a not-nice continuation of yesterday's set of moods. While yesterday I was incredibly bored, distracted and somewhat "oh, woes", today I woke up defeated, scared** and miserable. And incapable of working. Yays. Work on the presentation hasn't even started today, and I'm just too overwhelmed by the amount of summary that I have to do to even try. I guess it's not that hard, but still. (I managed to do some snazzy tables yesterday, which is nice.) I'm going to see if I can muster enough energy and care to jot down some ideas I've got scribbled over onto [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories (which has all of two friends, thanksverymuch).

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] wtf_nature has infected me with horrible deformed!baby images again. *sigh*

ETA: Just read this on Lostpedia: "Lostpedia has arranged an interview with Michael Emerson, the actor who portrays Benjamin Linus." How awesome is Emerson? Very.

ETA 2: We've progressed to crying in the public bathroom. I have vending machine!coffee, peanut M&Ms and an iPod. I doubt I'll do any work today, but I need to try. Another reason I may be feeling like shit today is that I slept like shit, and then prior to falling asleep failed at both watching Doctor Who (unexpected death of mainland internet) and any Lost episodes I might have on cd because my computer utterly failed at opening them! The cd itself, not even the video. And one CD it'd opened before, so I don't know wtf is going on. Just that I'm covered in a Slimey Coat of Suckyness.

Omg, I just printed out my paper. It's huuuge! *pets big baby that is Sickle's paper*

I've started today a bit late, and have been dalying about doing very little. Spoke to Myra (roomate) and she's invited me to have supper tomorrow with Elisa and Laura (the squee, still there). Today I need to change my address at the bank and maybe, if I have time, at the city hall. Regardless, lunch is going to happen now. I haven't had proper food in ages.

And I've posted a fanvid idea on [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories. I might even sit down a do one someday, if my new laptop isn't a total bastard with Movie Maker as the old laptop was. (Loving the new laptop, btw.)

I've finally updated [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories with all those plot bunnies that kept cropping out of memes. I also wrote a little plot outline and think-through about a Life on Mars/Doctor Who crossover. Mainly a conversation piece, going into the concepts of time and paradoxes.

And, in comemoration of the "Really, I'm not dead" muse-wave, let's give this meme another chance:

Words make the best porn. - Meme via [livejournal.com profile] lienne

Find that one fic (or OOM, or thread) of mine that you really like, and find a sentence or a paragraph that presses your prose-buttons in the right way, and comment here with it? Don't care how long or short. Don't care if you pick one fic or seven.

Quote a bit of my writing at me?

It doesn't even have to be a fic, seeing as I've also got plot outlines, dialogue snippets and a few not-actually-rhyming things. I realize this means you might have to read my fics. My nefarious plan, let me show you it.

Wrote a little Hero's Manual interlude over at [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories. This is what happens when you abandon your characters for an indefinate period of time, the poor things. It's much sadder than I expected; I thought Quasi would be able to inject a bit of funny, but he was just the most depressing butler you ever did see. And Uncle Mycroft isn't in it 'cause he's dead and happily sucking a village dry.

A light switch finally flicked on in my brain and I hunted down I Am Legend trailers on YouTube. I'm so dragging Brother to watch it. Will Smith, vampires, what's not to love? The love continues )

Also, why does spinach taste like dirt? I like spinach, really, I do, but often mushed-up cooked spinach tends to have a distinct dry dirt flavour. Ugh.

My right foot is freezing. Left foot's pretty happy, though. The rest of me is pretty cold too. *sigh* You would not believe how lacking in fun today's walk home was. All near-one-hour of it. Big Damn Wind-tunnel effect the whole way, and the dykes are finally frozen over. So, cold. And did I mention my tuques** are on the wrong continent? *clutches ears* Owie.

I have a meet' tomorrow with Lady of Some Department about the possibility of doing a literature research internship for that department. I'm going in pretty blind as to what I want, expect, or am interested in, which sucketh and reflecteth sorely. I'd like to catch Martina, though, and ask her if she's found anyone to do the literature research 4-month internship on earthworms and moles (no yays, btw). Although, 2 literature internships are a no-no, I'm sure.

*pout* [livejournal.com profile] ninth_wonders pimpage appears to have been ineffectual. Granted, "Fandom Analyses" wouldn't make me run for the clicky. "Mohinder gets beaten by the Science Stick for Greater Justice", however, would. *sigh* It takes two to share, apparently.

Gods know I don't like inflicting bad poetry on the poor undeserving masses. Still, if any of you'd be kind enough to check out this post on [livejournal.com profile] sickle_stories, I'd appreciate it.
