I have now lived longer than: (Source)

Ron Goldman, waiter and aspiring actor, acquaintance of Nicole Brown Simpson, murder victim (July 2, 1968 -- June 12, 1994)
John Keats, English Romantic poet and tuberculosis victim (October 31, 1795 -- February 23, 1821)
Randy Rhoads, California-born guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot (December 6, 1956 -- March 19, 1982)
Tupac Shakur, New York-born rapper and ill-fated boxing match attender (June 16, 1971 -- September 13, 1996)

How I celebrated womb-expulsion day! )

I was just in the laundry room, trying to decipher our new machine with its buttons that look permanently stuck, when I heard from Bab's room just across the hall an ad for an Animal Planet documentary which broke my heart a little. It was about Echo the elephant and her little trope in Amboseli. Oy. The concept of her is now so wrapped up with memories and emotions and people**, it's hard to see her as just an elephant in a documentary.

** The family who took us in with open arms - and gave Willy and I beau's - studied her, and I was there when Echo died.

Whilst searching through YouTube to determine which animated film version of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was the one of my childhood (TV, 1979), I came across the most brilliant political advertisement by the White Queen's party:

What do we really know about Aslan of Narnia?

But...um...what's with all the backlash? I mean, I'm a Christian and total lover of this story, but its PARODY, from the pov of the Witch. Grow up, people!

I have nothing further to add. This made everything better :D

Oh dear sweet Aslan on a field of green, that was a loooong Links of the Deay editing session. I can say nothing about life at the moment, because I'm freezing, it's late, and I have the much anticipated movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose to watch. *reads Wiki introduction* Courtroom drama? Oh fu... *flashbacks to The Crucible* Not that there's anything wrong with that, but so not what I remember from the trailers. Bah humbug.

Also, my dad's being posted to the Vatican!!! Whoot! \o/

There's just something about Dean that DOES beg for this kind of thing. It's his character, I think: Dean breaks in such psychologically fascinating ways.

Ok. I got home all relaxed and happy and creative. Right now? I could tear out someone's throat, I'm so fucking frustrated. Why? Fucking repetitive techno from downstairs. Also why? Goddamned White Screen of Death on both my internet browsers. And why? Computer speed = molasses in winter.

Cut for Gaaaaaaaaaah! )

Yesterday I bought a 1 GB pendrive (itty-bitty, I know) and today I've returned it (unused). Why? 'Cause I can totally save €3. That's like, amazing. (No, no it isn't, but I'd feel guilty otherwise.) Alas, the other, cheaper, store doesn't have the new order of pendrives yet, so I'll get it tomorrow. Instead, I bought, for €1, a pair of chopsticks in an adorable little woven basket-thingy holder. Fantastic!

I've also checked out a bit on Vrije Univ, and Amsterdam has emailed saying that they're terribly busy and can't tell me if they're going to tell me sometime in the near future whether I'm accepted or not. "Patience," they say. "Argh!" says I.

I also say "Arr" because PotC3: ATW is being released this week. Woot!

Rejoneo, the art of bullfighting with a lance on a horse that can actually move. (None of that picador stuff.) Note: I'm not pro-bullfighting - though I'm not excessively anti-bullfighting either. I like it for the horsies. Damn fine horsemanship. Observe.

In the wee hours of yesterday morning something wunderbar happened: I no longer need to download GIMP.

Hot damn am I going to learn how to make icons this weekend.

I even have an idea all set out: My brother took a picture of a little clown fish (which he appropriately titled "Nemo" in his gallery). That picture deserves to say "Small fry".

...and I just found a Photoshop contest gallery wherein someone uses my brother´s capoeira picture. Cool.

And then there´s the phrase "Cunning...but definately not sly" featuring Jayne*. It´ll make sense if you´re a rabid Firefly fan.

I´m sure there´s some cool stuff I could (theoretically) do with a picture of a plushie...

* It´s just a phase. I can stop swooning anytime.

Woot! I´ve sent postcards (finally) and got an email from Misha, a friend from Mexico. I havn´t heard from him in ages and all the email addreses I had of his were wrong. But I got a mass Fwd and got his email, and he´s finally written back!

After 2 months...

Have internet access, am delighted. Don´t have much time now for it though, since people are coming over for lunch. But I´m overjoyed and feel as if I´ve gotten a booster shot of joy.

The world is at my fingertips!

...yes, I love the internet. What about it?

On another note, I havn´t done anything at all this week, and plan to end it that way. Yesterday all I did was watch The Village. Thank you, JPhoenix, for being. You might not kick all ass, but there´s some brief shining moments were I swoon.

I know he´s made a movie recently re: Johnny Cash (whose songs I now like, thanks to bro´s CDs). It looked fine. :)

I know I´m incoherent. I hate being rushed.

I love Today. I want to hug it to pieces. (Well, ok, maybe by others' standards* today wasn't Da Bomb but it rocked my little socks off.)

First off: Body Flow. Yes, it was the same lady (Lia) as last sememster and can I say I adore her? Abs. wonderful instructor. So I thoroughly enjoyed BF today and look forward to more. Mom liked it too but don't think she'll stick to it due to shoulder-problems. (Things with mom are going better; she's not going insane over my not working every second of the day, for one thing. It's nice.)

Then there was ze final completion of CV, cover letter, and applications. And I signed up for my German exam (and had to let go of a large wad of cash, not a good thing) and took out some exercise books.

And the best thing? I actually do get to graduate. Yes! (Well, maybe second to this afternoon's ice cream sunday...)

And I spoke for ages with K, which leaves me gidy with joy.

I think I love the world back.

(Also, everyone else in the house is in bed, so I can happily say "all your electronics are belong to us", except it's just me and I really don't know where that phrase started from...)

* Like when one part of the metro was closed and we all had to double back up and take another line so we could connect to the previous line after the part that was closed, only to have it open right when we got there. Also, the metro really sucks here, including signs, organization, seating arrangements, etc.
