Fear not.*

I'm announcing an official hiatus (as opposed to the "oh gods, work is draining the life force out of me" hiatus) for the coming week because I'm going to be galavanting about Europe. The Links of the Day will be done, eventually, so never fear. As for my fellow Supernatural viewers, be strong and keep the spoilers away from me until next Saturday (which is when I'll probably come crawling to y'all in tears and dire need of discussion.)

Quote of the Day: Jacob, here
If my need for approval didn't get me up in the morning, my morbid fear of failure would do it instead.

...yeah, so I haven't been posting regularly in a while, and that's one part work sucking all my time and energy, one part Tumblr, and one part of "not much going on". Most of my day consists of work, which is currently being mind-numbingly dull, and the rest of it is spent trying not to melt in the unbearable heat. I still post a bit of fanart over on Tumblr, and I've been watching Season 1 of White Collar, which is awesome. It just feels like most of the time I'm desperately trying to keep up with all the things I want to do and just barely keeping my head above water.

Hence the massive LotD below. And the lack of Original Fiction Meme.

The day started off promising to suck, so I buckled up and took the radio to the second-hand shop, only to find the shop closed because It's Monday, dear, we never open on Monday.** So I got food and resigned myself to failure. Except then, after lunch, I decided to clean up my room, organize things for quick packing. So I did that until 8 pm - I even changed the sheets! - and then watched The Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Season 1. Ah, Billie Piper, I do love you! You know who else I love? [livejournal.com profile] seschat, for completely frying my brain with links of hotness, and Jensen Ackles, said hotness. Case in point.

Back to being all wibbley again. Even got the Dodos of Doom on my back. Pretty shitty day today in which nothing was accomplished and I was lonely and frustrated. Yays.

Also, if I understand the comment correctly (which I'm not even sure I do), someone was mean to me on the internet and I don't know why but it's really upsetting. I was just trying to help. And yeah, my bet was on -bad being like the English -burg, but hey, whatev's. I started googling when there were no comments still, so couldn't compare to others. ...yep, still upset over it.

What started off as YouTube wander through John Barrowman's musicals then into Julie Andrews' 12-year-old self and The King and I, then a quick Yul Bynner search brought his anti-smoking commercial (which I remember watching once on TV).

Then a few related links later and I'm watching Thanks, Tobacco: You Killed My Mom, which is a personal documenting of sonicbondage's mom's struggle with lung cancer at her request to disencourage smoking. It runs throughout her illness and hospitalization, through to her death and burial. Needless to day, it is not for the faint of heart, for it will be wrenched. The hospital scenes were tough on me particularly, due to it bringing up personal memories. (Some other bits made me uncomfortable in the, "I can't believe you're filming this" way for a number of different reasons.)

Then that video's related-link list brought me to Killed on Camera by chicagoreader. The summary describes it as Footage of Chicago police officer Alvin Weems shooting an unarmed man. Narration by Chicago Reader staff writer John Conroy. Full story. I stared at the whole thing with my mouth wide open and my love for humanity weeping profusely in a corner.

I've decided not to embedd these - and I'm still iffy on actually posting this - because they're both, in completely different ways, terrible, terrible things to watch. I'm so sorry, so very sorry. I almost want to tell you all not not watch these, but, if you can, you learn a bit. (Oh, but it's a tough lesson.)

My next YouTube search is going to be "Tennant hair" and by gods, I'm not straying for that.

ETA: The hair delivers, so watch this instead. It's a double-whammy of optimistic "I lurvs people"

I've done shite these past few days. I'm mean, seriously, abso-fucking-nothing. I ought to be doing stuff - really ought to - but there's just a hell of a lot of blah going on. I lay on the couch all day yesterday. Moped a bit, cried a bit, stared at pretty much nothing for a bit more.

The only good coming out of this is that, since I'm down to one honest meal a day I appear to have lost weight. From n.2 on Jan 6 to (n-3).8 today. Of course, that doesn't really mean there's any success because I've really just been oscillating around a given figure. Still, yays for grazing n-3.

Thing is... Hell, I can't even write an entry anymore.

And this time I know it's not due to the hormone rollercoaster. I'm just au-naturel blah. (More than blah, actually.)

Fuck the internship. Fuck the Masters.

(No, not really, but...)

ETA: A precursory search on torrentz.com offers nothing for SonoTORIous whatsoever. I feel cheated.

Stuff I've been reading (Firefly unless stated otherwise):

On LJ

Niki [livejournal.com profile] nikiness's "Details of the War" and Jayne/River prompt series
[livejournal.com profile] eustacia_vye28's "Next of Kin"
[livejournal.com profile] earthwhatwere's "Never Saw Blue" and "Beauty and the Mess"
[livejournal.com profile] sevangel's "Slayers in Space" Firefly/Buffy crossover (with her "Crazy's Rescue Mission" to be read)

On fanfiction.net

Wickedambiguity's "Of Guilt, Sin and Apples"
RingPrincess's "A Might Unpredictable"
JossWhedonGirl's "Blue Sun" Firefly/Buffy crossover
Neroli's "Delta Rain" and "Delta Rain Torrents"
Jenny7's "How it all ends"
beautifool's "The Shiny Affair of Mr Pink"
Whistler84's "Surivivors" Buffy fic
Aeneas's "Some Kind of Crazy" Firefly/PitchBlack crossover

On their own site

http://www.firefly-tvs.net is what it says: a Virtual Season. (Just like http://www.buffyworld.com has a Season 8 Virtual Season). Rocks all sorts of socks.

Naturally enough, reading Aeneas's fic last night got me back into my Riddick-mode. So off I went hoppity skip to novafry's "Reason's Why Riddick" website when the internet screws me over once more. Why? THe site isn't there anymore. It was such a good site, too.

*scampers off to google innocently*

I've got some Riddick-fics from fanfiction.net saved that I'll have to check up on. But NO pics. Why, god, why? (Except I think I might still have those links K set me. One involved a kilt.)

In other news, they'll be airing Lost on Spanish television in April. Reading over a guy's shoulder at the train station, I saw that they described the show as "set in Hawaii". Maybe filmed in Hawaii, but I thought it was *set* in "Wherethefuckarewe, Middleofnowhere". Call me silly, but they're "lost", right? They're not lost IN the island, they're lost ON the island.

Oh, and yes, important news: Spain now free of armed terrorists. Yay! Now it's democracy for all, even ETA.

Another thing I've ben meaning to post for ages: I am deeply ashamed that Eto'o has been the butt of racist comments* whilst playing football. And not just once, either. The last time, though, he stepped off the pitch in protest, but was later convinced by fellow teammates to play. Now the host stadium has to pay a (non-enough) amount of cash and some other sanctions as well. Still, deeply ashamed for humanity.
