So far, so good, and by the time Chip heads out on patrol again, he'll have had a heart-to-heart with Icarus (who'll be moping), been assaulted by a demon, and faught off a massive wave of infected (who are anticipating Kezef, who'll show up the next day). That's...a lot of stuff that has to happen.
But the going's still good. I have no idea if the whole is worth anything, but I'm trying to keep all the bits together, keep them moving, and sticking in bits of Chip introspection and panic and angst, because if not it wouldn't be TFSB 2, would it?
...OMG I just realized how pathetically covered in hearts and rainbows the excerpt is. Oh lawdy. It's not supposed to be a "they're soul mates and love each other" thing, but a "they're a team and separate from the others" thing. Oy.
A scoff from Dean interrupted the angel, attracting his attention for a moment. Then Icarus pressed closer to Chip, their legs touching from ankle to hip, his arm trapped against Chip’s stomach, and while this was nothing new – they slept like this, closer even – it somehow felt more intimate. Sitting there in front of three strangers and two friends, the angel’s breath hot in his ear, Chip felt as if the world were concentrating around him. When they slept alone in their cupboard of a room, they were separate, and it was nothing. Here and now, there was an us because there was a them. That morning’s complicity came down on Chip like a sack of hammers.
“Why are you telling me all of this? If this camp had a brochure, I doubt this would be on it.” Anticipating Icarus’ confusion, Chip clarified himself. “When Harper gave us the tour, she didn’t mention it, and no one else seems to be talking about it.”
“We do not make it a habit of telling the civilians.”
Chip bristled, although he didn’t know whether this was over Icarus’ use of civilians or his non-inclusive we. “So why tell me?”
“Because,” said the angel, reaching out to trace Chip’s eyebrow and run his fingertips around his eye, “you are involved.”
Quote of the Day: Buddha (because it made me think of Sam Winchester)
It is better to conquor yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heavon or hell.

Impressionism is a movement in French painting, sometimes called optical realism because of its almost scientific interest in the actual visual experience and effect of light and movement on appearance of objects. Impressionist paintings are balanced, use colored shadows, use pure color, broken brushstrokes, thick paint, and scenes from everyday life or nature.
People that like Impressionist paintings may not alway be what is deemed socially acceptable. They tend to move on their own path without always worrying that it may be offensive to others. They value friendships but because they also value honesty tend to have a few really good friends. They do not, however, like people that are rude and do not appreciate the ideas of others. They are secure enough in themselves that they can listen to the ideas of other people without it affecting their own final decisions. The world for them is not black and white but more in shades of grey and muted colors. They like things to be aestically pleasing, not stark and sharp. There are many ways to view things, and the impresssionist personality views the world from many different aspects. They enjoy life and try to keep a realistic viewpoint of things, but are not very open to new experiences. If they are content in their live they will be more than likely pleased to keep things just the way they are.

LEMONADE:
L: Love and Other Near Death Experiences (2006) - Mill Millington - This book is hilarious and presents an interesting concept of how there are no insignificant decisions, how the more random choice - tea or coffee? - can have huge effects. (Review) It also introduced me to Mill's website, Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About, which was another enteertaining read, and resulted in my getting the occasional mass-email of Mill updates, which is charming.
E: East of Midnight (1977) - Tanith Lee - I have loved this book ever since I was tiny. I don't remember the first time I read it, I think; I've reread it so many times (and yet I only remember one single character's name, and am not even sure which he is). I'd like to say I liked it because of the matriarchal society it presented, but really it's the viciously-toothed sheep and the lions that did it.
M: Metamorphosis (4x04) - Supernatural - While I barely remember anything of the actual plot, I absolutely loved the ideas behind it and keep coming back to this episode when discussing whether monsters are made or born, whether they can fight being monsters, choice vs. destiny, and all those wonderful philosophical things. Like how I keep turning to that quote about monsters in The Orphan. It's fascinating.
O: O Brother Where Art Thou (Soundtrack) - I was just getting into country the year this came out due to watching a country version of MTV that summer - the only music video channel available. (Yes, MTV used to play music videos! It was like a radio! With images! Oh, the glories of days past...) I watched the movie for its soundtrack and fell head-over-heels in love with country music.
N: Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro - I practially devoured this book the first time and cried most the othe way through the ending. The second time around was pretty much the same. I love this book and its world and its words to itty bitty pieces.
A: American Gods - Neil Gaiman - The first novel I ever read by Neil Gaiman, apart from Good Omens. It was huuuge and I was a bit daunted, but it cemented my Gaiman-love. Now I've read more of his stories and novels, listened to his readings and watching movies based on his works, read about his dog and watching him beekeeping, and there is no end to the squee.
D: Dream of the Blue Turtles - Sting - No matter what
E: Extended Play '07 - Placebo - I'll admit to never having heard this album, but since it's basically a "What you might know Placebo from" collection, it has a lot of songs of theirs that I love. And apparently I do love Placebo. Like, a lot. Massively.

He wants to make an animated film of my short story "The Price." He wants it to be really faithful, so he's using me telling the story as an audiobook as his narrator. He's already done an animatic." Date: 2010-11-06 08:40 pm (UTC)But, since you're doing the bingo thing, how long until that Clan of the Cave Bears/Heroes crossover of awesome comes to light? You know you want to write it!
And hey, if you keep track of which WIPs and prompts you do this month, you could maybe still stick them into the Nano validator - if you reach the 50000) and "win". Sense of accomplishment validated by a little image, yes/yes?

Date: 2010-11-06 08:44 pm (UTC)I want to write it! I'm just drowning in prompt thingies at the moment and the AU bingo card didn't co-operate. I might write it sooner anyway, as a way to procrastinate on the ones I should be writing XD apparently the AU_Bingo mods are AWOL anyway.
Is it too late to do a sign up thingy? I'm keeping track because I'm doing all this month's writing in the same Liquid Storybinder book.
