• I've had sea shanties stuck in my head for ages, which is both awesome and annoying because I don't actually know the whole songs. So I've been humming bits of Lukey's Boat, Heave Away, Ramblin' Rover and Donkey Riding over and over again.
  
  
• On that topic, Great Big Sea ♥ I watch ed them live years ago, and I loved it. (Or I would have, but I was in the deepest state of depressed funk that whole summer because I'd failed a course.)



• I watched The Walking Dead last week (1x02) and while it was good, it didn't have the same shiny coating of awesomeness that the pilot did. Plus, it didn't help that I facepalmed at a little plot and science (yes! science! with zombies!) fail. Consider that a) zombies eat flesh and assume that b) zombies can smell deliscious exposed and will run over to join the buffet. Accept that a) zombies don't eat zombies because they can identify them and that b) zombies know other zombies by their smell, specifically c) "they smell dead". This does not mean that coating youself in fresh guts - deliscious gut buffet! get 'em while they're fresh! - will a) make you smell dead and thus b) make zombies ignore you. Why? Because "fresh dead" ≠ "old dead". Trust me on this. I catalogued carcases for four months, I know what dead smells like. Zombies smell dead, fresh guts smell like that deliscious buffet I was talking about. So how about you don't coat yourself in zombie food?!?
  
  ETA: I just remembered they used zombies for the "let's get covered in guts and smell like zombies!" plan, which makes a lot more sense. Sorry, ignore the science stick, carry on.

Nanowrimo 2010:

• A few days ago I realized that my brain was going "Omg, argh, this sucks!" at Nanowrimo 2010, which was dispiriting because its perception of Nanowrimo 2009 was, "Omg, so organized, it flows so well and argh! Will never be repeated!" but then I saw that whilst I was doing Nanowrimo 2009, my brain was going, "omg, argh, this sucks!" So I guess I'm comforted by the utter suckitude of Nanowrimo 2010. It probably doesn't suck royally (just slightly). It might even make sense in the end!



• Today's writing session was not so much like pulling teeth and a lot more like bashing my head repeatedly against a wall for the most part. I went back and added to the scenes I'd written yesterday, except one was Icarus, Chip and Dean talking and they didn't actually say all that much except angst and Dean wasn't being a hunter enough, and the other scene was Kezef being all ooooh, evil, but nothing was happening. I tried to fix it and I don't know if I succeded because of the massive amounts of SUCK but it's goddamn over.



• Next up: Zombie hordes attack! ...this scares me a little, because it's all action with some plottyness on the side plus a reveal and then a panic moment. I do believe we're reaching the big plotty climax from which everything winds down. It's like I have a plot!

Kezef walked through the trees, circling his brother's work, almost admiring it. The host might be gone, but the earth still harbored the work of angels. His own creations were well on their way to outnumbering the humans, and every day his brother's took on more bodies for themselves. Here was another angel’s work, he mused, and even though it was little more than finger-paint, it was still a worthy testament to his kind.

40 Days of Supernatural Meme: Day 38 - Favorite Jensen movie/other show?

I've been a better fan of Jensen that I have of Jared. I've watched My Bloody Valentine, Devour, and clips of Dark Angel.

While I loved him in Dark Angel, I can't say it's my favorite simply because I know squat about it and have watched what is probably a sum total of ten minutes.

So, between MBV and D, I'm going to go for Devour. Why? Because at least Devour was memorable (no matter how wack) and it didn't have that "Oh ho ho! Person was really Adjective all this time!", which I hate in general and disliked intensly in this case because it was so out of the blue.

On the other hand, MBV had shirtless Jensen, if I recall correctly, as did Dark Angel. But then, Jensen made my heart ache when Jake confronted his Dad, so yeah, I'm going with Devour. It's bad crack and I like it.

Well, actually, I pretty much am taking a break because what I've been writing up to now is description, description, description (with a little Chip and Steve panic flashback thrown in). I'm kinda working up to the big action scene. (I am terrified of bringing in Kezef and having him be evil and all that. So. Much. Plot.) Just 596 more words tonight! \o/

I really want there to be snogging. Like, so bad omg. I want Chip/Icarus to get it on. But plot is happening! Damnit! ...although, since I'm apparently going to stick in some hurt, I think I can add the comfort part of that duo. I just want them to snog so bad.

And Steve so too did get his fluffy scene! There was cuddling! A lot of it! After sex! (Not that this is mentioned but it was totally post-sex snuggles.) And then more sexy times!

And the news of the Icarus/Chip h/c scene is made of pure fantasticness, since I firmly believe there's always room for some "O noes, we're dying! Take me, take me now!" Right? ;) After all, Icarus/Chip = OTP! (Well, after Steve/Chip, of course, but you just had to kill off the guy, hadn't you? STAMP OF FANGIRL DISAPPROVAL! ;)

On the other hand, it is a zombie novel, which means...*thinks back to Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things* *shifty eyes* It would mess up Chip so badly if Steve were to show up as a zombie all of a sudden, daaamn.
