You know, I never had a complaint over Vista. Ever. Up until now, of course.

See, it all started when I was blind-sided a few days ago with a perfect crossover idea. Now, my brain being visual, especially when listening to music, and my itching to try and make a fanvid, I decided to make a trailer. Not that I have any skilz, mad or otherwise.

So I have the appropriate video, but not the music. I don't want to use Requiem for a Dream, because while lovely, it has been overused as a trailer theme. So I wrack my brains and remember a Firefly (Rayne) fanmix, which had a song which was all ass-kicking violins. Or maybe cellos.

Of course, I can't remember the song title or artist. Google lets me down. Wiki lets me down. Ljseek lets me down. Trolling though all entries in [livejournal.com profile] rayne_shippers also lets me down. So I finally get out my massive CD stack and find the ones with fanmixes.

That's where the argh steps in. As happened once before, in what I refer to as the "Let's Pretend That Never Happened and Forget About It Completely" Incident, the CD won't open. The little green bar'll load...and load...and continue to load until...almost...not quite...wait for it... And so on. The bugger never opens. And then it has the gall to not respond.

So I google. And I get a thread showing that XP files on a CD are kryptonite to Vista for reasons my poor little non-code-monkey brain can't understand.

So I know there's a problem. It won't go away. I can't fix it. I've got a lot of stuff that's now undreadble to my computer.

I hate you, Vista. I hate you good.

In sum, y'all know of an all-female cellist band playing modern music? (Or violins, maybe.)

ETA: I think I've found all the fanmixes I had except one that had Tracy Chapman's You're the One. If the universe hates me, and I'm sure it does, that elusive song that I bloody loved that was all violins and cellos and no lyrics whatsoever was on that mix. The mixer said the song reminded them of River fighting. Why can't I remember important and helpful details?!?

ETA 2: BOND! Four hours of searching and brain-wracking, I step into the shower, and bam, total recall. Just watch the song not being trailer-appropriate. (Once I track it down, that is.) \o/ Yay for remembering!

ETA 3: My brain is fucking awesome. But maybe the first part of this one would work better. If all else fails, there's always this, all 37 seconds of it.
