frodolyn's glee, I've been checking out Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Official Site), which is the new show Summer Glau co-stars in, along with Heroes's Zach** (Thomas Dekker), with main-star Lena Headey. I wasn't one much for Terminator - in fact, I hardly remember it, except for the creapy cop, whose face I will remember with accompanying "Eeeek!" till my dying day - and the pilot kind of left me hanging a bit, trying to catch up on the background mythology. However, it's actually quite watchable - I'm on episode 3 now, waiting on 4 - and interesting. Ex-Zach's lovely, and Summer's eerie, like a really spaced out River.
It also has some lovely Mohinderesque narrative voice-over. What does this mean? This means I've jotted some bits down and will now share.
1x02: 'Know thyself.' John once told me it's inscribed on the front of the temple of Apollo. The entire quote is, 'Know thyself and thou shalt know all the mysteries of the gods and of the universe.' That's quite a mouthful. My version is this: 'Know thyself, because what else is there to know?' People hide secrets; time is a lie. A material world can disappear in an instant - it has and it will again. Our identities change - our names, the way we look, how we act and speak. We're shapeshifters. There is no control, no constant, no shelter but love of family and the body God gave us. And we can only hope that that will always be enough.
1x03: Don't drive yourself crazy chasing the future. We can't predict, you know, we can only try and prevent.
I also edited together the Sylar scenes of Zane and Mo's little trip, but Moviemaker crashed on me. I haven't checked whether it's nice and saved an emergency backup copy.
