Things done today:

1) Internetted (thrice)
2) Babbled about Doctor Who finale on livejournal
3) Got put on waiting list for Self study textbooks at library
3b) Chatted happily with both librarian and porter/secretary guy.
4) Sudokued.
5) Ate stuff.
6) Listened to the first half of Neverwhere.
7) Failed at museum-ing because my open hours aren't in synch with the world's.
8) Resolutely did not break into a blubbery wibbly mess. Go me. (But then, I'm not really feeling much of anything most of the time. Not caring, it is of the not good.)

Not a very good list, all things considered. It's days like these that really put one's lifetime into perspective - whether you see it as an hourglass or a giant stack of calendars. Point is, today's been a waste of day, a wasted day. Might as well not have lived this particular day out, and now I'm not getting that time back.

I still desperately want to knit. (And get back to playing the piano, but getting knitting needles is a tad cheaper. And yes, I've tried drawing piano key's but I really do need the sound to relearn piano-playing, not just the visual "fingers go here".) The thing is, I do know how to knit - well, the actual knitting part of it, I can't make anything other than a long strip of knitted yarn. I never learnt how to cast on, because mom always did that for me and never actually did it slowly enough or with enough patience of me to learn it. (Which, you know, sucks.)

Note to self: Slips of paper have a habit of getting lost.

Arg.

Further note to self: "Logical" hiding places are anything but.

Emailed K like the Dickens. Have decided to run away to Russia and sell shirts. (Okay, the Russia thing is new. So new, I don´t know where it came from.)

But if I made shirts, they´d have the following slogans:

1) "Kidnapped by octagons!"
2) "Statistically in danger"
3) "Culture shock: the feeling of coming home after a long trip and realizing that you don't fit in but everyone around you thinks you should and it's really all just weird"

Explanations:

1) Barcelona´s city blocks are octagons. Nuff said.
2) K´s comment regarding the abnormally high number of breakups this season.
3) Also K´s comment, re: her friend´s explanation of Culture Shock.

The creapiest thing I´ve ever seen in a trachea and pair of lungs (lamp, prob.) swinging on a hook between other trachea/lungs, perfectly still. And that beats out the day I saw a the half of a lamb´s head on my uncles plate.

Spain´s serious about it´s meat market.

Things that make me happy:

1) Hearing the song I´ve had in my head all day on the radio.
2) An honestly cheerful hello.
3) The sound of thunder at night.
4) The smell of wet concrete by a pool one hot afternoon.
5) Those heavy overcast days where it´s always just a minute away from raining.
6) Old books with yellow pages, with their particular old-book smell.
7) Coming home after a time away and smelling it´s particular home-smell.
8) Those days when, for no particular reason, you feel pretty.
9) The smell of dry hay and horse in a barn.
10) That first bite of a fruit you love and havn´t had in ages.
11) Familiar handwriting in the mailbox.
12) Juicy oranges.
