Back to status quo
May. 16th, 2006 06:09 pmParents gone as of early this mornig, though I had to say goodbye yesterday. As always, there was some tears, some bitterness and then some last minute phone calls regarding the apparent invisibility of a package mom had given me.
Trying not to dwell too much.
So instead, let me teach you about the grizzle-polar bread hybrid. Or, well, point the way. Y'all can teach yourselves.
I will, however, tell that I have again struck gold wqith the Chinese because wikipedia is wonderful and has a Wiktionary, a Pinyin page and a whole page on Chinese, as in words and words in Chinese with their definitions. I can´t believe I´m doing this...
Immensely greatful to
earthwhatwere for clearing up the injection-thing with Mal on Serenity. There is one thing that doesn't quite make sense, though. After Mal gets the cocky little smile beatten out of him by the Operative, he walks into the common room rolling down his sleeve. That just screams "recent injection". Now, sure, he got beat up and all, had some bruises and cuts, bloody nose etc. But would any of that require an injection? Painkillers would be either pills or a sort of "apply anywhere" thing (see Kaylee in Serenity episode or Jayne in War Stories). So the innoculating theory flies for the first time, but not quite for the second. Mur?
Love how some lines in Serenity are taken exactly from the series. (Like "not born a Shepherd", "petty thief" (outtake), "always loved to dance", etc.)
Tomorrow I have my French presentation on Marc Levy's "Et si c'était vrai" novel. Ugh. And on Wednesday, I'm joining the flat-mates in watching football. (Double ugh for the football, kinda-yay for the socializing). There will be pizza. Have to call Christina, see if we can go swimming sometime, and on Wednesday, Monica's cousin's neighbour is going to call me so we can chat. (She did Biology too, so we'll see...) Might also try and get in touch with the super-social girl that works in the hospital with MCarmen who said she'd like to meet me. Must socialize, damnit.
Oh, and boondoggle (n) means "A waste of time and/or money; a pointless activity. ". I just thought that was the most wonderful word in the world.
And that appears to be that.
Time to be responsible and catch up on
