• Since at the moment I'm translating a webpage, and that webpage has a lot of events and acronyms and things that I need to check out to find the correct names of things, I keep stumbling upon pretty and official webpages with Spanish versions and near pulling my hair out in frustration because all those pretty little Spanish-version-websites have only deigned to translate the tabs. The main text? English. Or just not even there. Argh. If I'm looking at the Spanish page for the Convention on Ponies and Why You Can't Have One, for example, a text in English is the very last thing I want. Not helping.


• I just found a quote on WordReference which describes exactly what I do when I think about my ex-boyfriend and that whole mess of emotions and actions and things.

• I think I may have turned into a hobbit. I keep needing to have Second Breakfast on account of being starving by 9:30 because 7 am is too early to be having a breakfast that'll keep me going for 5 hours. *stares at hobbit-feet*


• I got my first paycheck \o/ Or rather, my first bank statement for my first paycheck at my current place of employment, which isn't my first paycheck no matter how squeeful my folks are. Regrdless, we're celebrating with booze and food, as is our want.


• Here's a story about public transportation in Rome: We're in the bus. It stops. It's about to leave when one early-twenties boy runs up shouting. He stands at the entrace of the doors - preventing the doors from closing and the bus from leaving, shouting at the bus driver to please stop and wait, his friends are right behind him. The driver stops and waits because the guy's physically stopping him from doing anything else. We wait. We wait some more. Eventually, a group of guys wanders up not at all out of breath or running or anything. Then get on, ride the bus for one single stop, then get off. They never paid a ticket. Apparently they could run for the bus but not walk one bus stop, and public transportation is now also apparently free.


• Here's another story from the Roman buses: A few times already I've seen old and not so old Italian ladies walk up to an immigrant - or someone who looks like an immigrant, by which I mean from either northern Africa or western Europe - and give them a stare, or worse, a "get off out of your seat" gesture, and then take the immigrant's seat. This has happened even when the bus wasn't even half full. The racism, it is disgusting.


• In completely other news, I might as well make it oficial and say I am hopelessly crushing on Crowley. I even had to rewatch The Devil You Know (5x20) and I'm not above hunting down Crowley fics. Ngh. Mark Sheppard, how do you do those things with your voice?


• So...Amy Winehouse is dead. I heard it on the news and was surprised to be upset by the news. I guess I just grew to like her a lot from her stint on Nevermind the Buzzcocks. So, Amy, here's to you.

Here is a 30 day original story development challenge. It can be filled by prose or illustration or comic or even just script, whatever works for you and how you’ll be displaying the setting. Feel free to reveal as much or as little as you want.

Day 6 - The place a character works/goes to school/hangs out whatever.
Chip fiddled with his empty coffee cup. He was early - he was always early, sometimes even sneaking out of work so he could drive to the airport early and sit on the edge of the hard plastic seats in the domestic flight's arrival lounge and drink over-priced coffee and stare at the screens, checking and rechecking flight numbers and times and praying the words delayed or worse, cancelled, never showed up by his own personal lottery number. He always sat in the same seat, or tried to. Always drank the same coffee - a latte with two sugars, unstirred - downing it in erratic, impatient gulps, leaving two inches to cool at the bottom so he would have something to do with his hands while he waited. He always ended up mouthing along to the overhead announcements despite himself, hating how they hammered into his head over and over again about gate openings and changes and how not to leave one's luggage unattended.

Chip didn't mind being a regular at the airport's arrivals, having an almost intimate knowledge of the tiny details of what made the lounge tick, spending whole evenings just waiting. Because the wait, the back-aching chair and the last dregs of cold coffee were all worth it once that one magical word - arrived - flashed by Steve's flight number.
