Thoughts on Castiel's Season Arc:

I've been scared for Castiel and his season arc for a while now, terrified that they're going to make him the villain, or have him do unforgivable things in the eyes of the Winchesters and the audience. Whilst editing a fanvid, I caught a chilling visual parallel:





I am now terrified. People have been theorizing that Castiel is this season's Lucifer, and now it's all I can see coming.


Sickle's Brief Review of Doctor Who's "Day of the Moon", 6x02:

• I have a confession, or maybe I just need to make it official: I now have a crush on Matt Sheppard. Watching Canton be awesome was the highlight of everything.


• Maybe due to the Sheppard-effect, maybe due to teh Silence-effect, but I can't remember much of the episode aside from fleeting moments of confusion followed by hand-waving, "let's enjoy the ride".


• I think I'm going to try to watch the Confidential episodes aw well. One, it gives a nice conclusion-feel to my week's Doctor Who viewing, and two, well, it's interesting. Most importantly, though, the actor's are so adorable. Oh, Matt Smith and your meat-ball covered scraggily beard! And tap-dancing Silence! And Mark Sheppard, all, "Tea. The great thing about British production is tea. You can't get tea on any sets in America."


• Um, Moffat? We're going to get those three months back, right? I mean, how did they figure out it was the silence they were up again? When did they see Amy's photo of it? Answers, man!


• Blink-like writing on the wall. Although from the janitor's wrist, I'm guessing it's him who's writing it, trying to tell himself to leave, but the Silence are mind-wiping him to stay and care for the girl. *shudders*


• Damnit Canton! Not "That's what who said?" but "What girl?", that's the important question!


• I was proper scared of the Silence when they were hanging from the cieling like hibernating bats. Although, Amy, seriously, stop shining the light in their eyes!


• The Rory&Doctor moment was ♥


• Am now shipping River/Doctor. Hard. That kiss was adorable and heartbreaking.


• And I love River, who is one fierce woman who is wise enough to know not to fight what she cannot.


• Nixon was more comical than he should've been. And probably the first Head of State to get a TARDIS ride.


• Schrödinger Baby! Time Lord Child!


• MORE CANTON. That is all.

Well, Misha said at the beginning of the season that Cas' agenda during the 2nd half of the season would sometimes run counter to the boys. Prior to the season 4 finale he often did things motivated by his Heavenly agenda rather than loyalty to Dean -- ie. setting Sam free from the panic room.

I suspect Cas literally made a deal with a devil thinking like Bobby that it was for the greater good and the end justifies the means, but unlike Bobby, his hole keeps getting deeper and he keeps trying to cover up what he's done, which only makes it worse -- cover ups always do. I think he's be hoping to get caught for awhile, why else would he let Dean and Sam remember the Titanic? But as paranoid as Dean is, he's slow to see when the people he trusts are struggling because he doesn't want to see that.

I have an unfortunate theory about Cas, Crowley, Sam, and Sam's soul too.

I have no qualms with Cas being at odds with the boys, or even (momentarily) estranged from them. I've been expecting it ever since his "I don't care. I don't have the luxury." in 6x03. I agree with you that he wants to get caught, in a way. I took his letting the boys remember the Titanic incident as a "please remember this later so you'll understand and not be mad at me" move.

I am worried, though, about the aftermath of the big explody revelation of Castiel's actions. I don't want it to be unforgivable in terms of the story, meaning, basically, that it has to do with Sam's soul and that will be a deal-breaker for the characters and audience. That'd be Too Far.

I'm guessing your "unfortunate theory" involves Castiel using Sam's soul to power his little war machine? Because, yeah, I'm guessing we're going that way too. :(

Remember in Home back in season 1, when Mary told Sam she was sorry? She really had no idea when she made that deal with Azazel all those years before to save John that she would be damning her second born.

Demons are tricky. There's all that small print and Crowley really is slick. After all, he's "been selling sin to Saints for centuries." I just think that this slippery slope into the hole Cas is in didn't seem like an incline or a hole at all when he started. I think Crowley twisted his good intentions, just like Ruby twisted Sam's.

I like to think Cas can be forgiven because Sam was forgiven. I kind of hope they learn something from Rufus and Bobby, because that was a terrible thing what Rufus did to Bobby, refusing to forgive him even in the end for something so far in the past and look how destroyed Bobby is. Look at all the pain Dean and Sam suffered through because of the hard feelings because Dean couldn't forgive Sam for so long? They have got to learn that the messes are big, the reasons are big, not everything is black and white, and holding on to all of that anger against each other isn't doing any of them any good.
