I forgot to say yesterday that Palermo was awesome (and y'all will probably never see photos of it because I apparently suck at coming through on promises like that) but the rest of this week has been hellish. I got home Sunday night and there was no hot water and I'd been looking forward to a hot bath like crazy, especially since I'd had cramps all day I am not kidding. We got it fixed Wednesday, until then, cleanliness came in a bucket. The recently-boiled water was always too hot. Cue fist-shaking.

Then the electricity went out all afternoon on Wednesday, and the heating never came back, so it was a delightful 16.5 degrees in my room and there was a lot of huddling under the covers. I am so tired of being cold (and I said as much to Mom, who promptly snapped that she'd hoped I'd be "tired from something else (you lazy ass)").

The good thing, though, is that my internship supervisor's letting me take time out to look for a proper job. This is apparently a less depressive task when done in a proper office where I have to keep it together.

Day 29: I sent out 7 CVs! And (sort of) drew my first sketch in years!

They're incredibly rough in that I'm out of practice and just tried to get the general feel of the position, especially with the second one. But hey, it's not lame! (Also, the over-the-shoulder one is better than the side one, which is strange because it's a harder perspective.)

I have two images of Time We Saw a Miracle scenes which won't leave my head. I can see them perfectly, but since I haven't drawn anything since around 2001 (with this (bad) exception and these not-so-bad ones), I'm rusty. I'm even more rusty at drawing people, which I was never very good at.

I can draw fine from a reference, but references for the images in my head are hard to find. The problem is a) I don't want to draw a simple side-view angle, but rather an over-the-shoulder, looking from the top perspective, which means getting the perspective and proportion right needs a reference, and b) I want people in bed viewed from the back, not the front, which practically doesn't exist on the internet. But I think I'm getting there \o/

Basically what I'm trying to exorcise out of my head (in yet another project I will probably never finish) is a) an image of Kezel kneeling over Icarus, who is looing up at him, with Lucifer's white-suited self at Icarus' feet, during the Opening of Heaven's Gate scene, and b) Icarus snuggling with Chip, his head on Chip's chest and his back to the viewer, showing the two white wing-scars.

Hmm. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this isn't the first time you've mentioned issues with things like electricity, is it? Do you have more power outages in Rome than in Montreal? Is this a city-wide thing, or is it just your house? Very curious.

Um, I don't really remember. It might've happened before, but this time it was just our street, and the electricians put in a truck-generator for a few days while they dug up the lines and fixed things, so we should be good from now on.
