heroes_meta Heroes Review 4x08 "Shadowboxing"

Matt and Sylar

- Matt makes an exceedingly creepy Sylar, and not in the "Oooh, bad guys are sexy and awesome" sense, but in the "Oh dear god, get it away!"

- Sylar's identity crisis continues with his heartbreaking, pointless, and very out-of-fake-character cries of "I'm a cop!"

- Okay, I get that Matt's a psychic and he's basically doing the "turnaround's a bitch" thing, but I wonder whether it really was that easy to fool Sylar into packing a gun, or doodling death threats. Especially since a) Sylar's strong enough to not disappear in Matt's brain and b) Sylar's been pulling those very same tricks and so knows what to expect.

- Sylar's skin moving around as he shifts into Nathan is...disturbing. Like, "alien maggots squirming and reproducing" disturbing. Please no more of that.

- "The world is my hostage." Ah, finally, the absolutely brilliant and manipulative bastard Sylar that we know and love returns!


Bennett, The Haitian Now Named Rene, Claire and Gretchen

- I noticed Samuel had a visitor's tag (which, really?) but I didn't see that on Bennett of The Haitian Rene.

- Yeah, 'cause nothing says harmless, inconsequential, "ladila, on with your lives, little college folk" like Bennett and The Haitian marching around the fraternity house. How stoned do you have to be to not think that weird?

- Bennet, your "Oops, guess she's not here" cover-up when confronted by suspicious fraternity sisters is really really bad. Like, "Oh hai, just rummaging through young women's underwear" bad.

- You can tell I'm an education geek when my first thought upon seeing Gretchen running for her life back to her parent's home is, "No! What about your classes? You can't just drop out!" Then I realized that someone wanted to kill her and maybe that took priority. Still...


Peter and Emma

- I am incredibly disappointed in Peter, regardless of how many people he's just saved. Why? 'Cause when Emma tells him maybe he shouldn't use his healing power, he says, "What, and be normal?" instead of "What, and let these people die?" Peter, I spare no love for you, you narcissistic bastard.
