...in regions such as Africa*
Mar. 24th, 2008 11:42 amOk, I'm incredibly frustrated right now because I'm reading stuff on sustainable development from nineteen eighty-freakin'-seven. Which means it's rather like reading really old science fiction, where you just can't help but point and laugh at their appalling predictions. That this was forced on me by the seminar makes it all that much more stupid in my eyes. In some areas, old science is bad science.
Anyway, my point for this post: Africa is not a region. Africa is a bloody big continent. Stop frickin' generalizing so much! Continent! Big-ass piece of land! It's not in the least homogeneous! *rant* (Yes, pet peeve.)
I'd also rant about "latin america" and "latino" and all those terms that just make me a very angry monkey - pet peeve the second - but I've got to finish this chapter before it makes my head explode.
Also, is it me, or is texting someone at 9:15 am on a Monday, saying you'll be in town to meet in 20 minutes - when you'd already arranged to meet "in the afternoon" - just really bad form?
