I've just rewatched T: TSCC 1x06 (aka. the Bad Science Episode). Alright, so Derek isn't AB+, he's AB-, and it's apparently actually yep, rare in the USA, according to Wiki, at 0.6% of the population. My point still stands and the stupid remains: there's major Science Abuse going on in that blood transfusion bit. (And by the by, blood transfusions have to take in a whole lot of stuff into account other than the letters.). Actually, it's bothering me so much - not so much the "Oh noes, he needs his own blood type" as the "AB- son of an O- mother" whahooey - that I'm sorely tempted to whine about it on a thread. Blargh.

Guess what though? I'm feeling incredibly awesome right now because I finally placed the face of Random Army Dud in that episode as Peter Mensah, aka that messenger who gets kicked into a Spartan well in 300. I had to go through an oodleplex of mental files, jumping from "Ooh, I'm getting Xerxes vibes" to "That's not the Candyman, is it?" and then off to "Machete-wielding bastard in Blood Diamond?" before the thunderclap of "D'oh!" (Lena Headey was also in 300 as Queen Whatsit, which sort of makes me want to see if these fandoms can bleed together, but there just isn't enough crack for that in this world.)

Now, I'm in the mood to tear this episode's concepts to pieces by the careful aplication of logic, and hope you'll indulge me. Please bear in mind that the grand total of my memories for the Terminator movie franchise is that one scary melty cop and everyone at school saying, "I'll be back."

First off, when fighting against cyborgs with an endoskeleton that's resistant to melting, denting and is just all-around very, very hard, why would your weapon of choice be a gun? And why would you aim it at the chest? Seriously. It's like shooting zombies, or vampires, or Sylar. It's a very stupid and pointless move.

People new at fighting off terminators, I can forgive, but if you've been hiding in the sewers and fighting these tin cans since you were 16, you'd think maybe these choices aren't the best. I mean, 1) metal = one hell of a bullet-proof vest, 2) robot = not something you can exactly wound, 3) killing blow = the chip inside their metal-encased heads. Honestly, I'm surprised the bullets don't bounce back and kill the idiots.

And secondly, if I were there - which I wouldn't, I'd be totally dead, I know - I'd go for the robot communication's centre right off the bat. That would be the objective. Because while the robots have their own little chips with their missions engraved in wires, they must download, and possibly update, their missions from the head honcho, which is Skynet. Just unplug the wireless router and you won't have organized robot killers with a plan, just plain ol' robot killers. It's definately a start.

I had another bone to pick with an inconsistency in T: TSCC, but repeated viewings of the prison interview took that bone away from me. This...this kind of totally ruins my plot bunny, which is of the woe.

Originally, I'd thought that when the FBI agent had said that Derek's prints, which "were everywhere", including a light switch and toilet, he meant these prints were at Andy's place, and not Derek's safe house, as he actually meant. My plot bunny squealed when a flashback showed us that Derek hardly even stepped into Andy's room. Said bunny had taken the idea of Andy possibly being the the first man Derek killed and added to that the idea of Derek being in Andy's bathroom throwing up over it. I can still do the angst and guilt without the sick, 'cause the first-murder point still holds, and Derek knew Andy anyway, but man...

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] adharaphoenix helps bring folk over onto the Derek/Cameron ship with a gorgeous fanvid and sums up sentiments nicely with, i know, why? i mean, i was shipping them before the dance scene, but after that how can you not??
If the video doesn't pique your interest, you can always try [livejournal.com profile] lightmy_muse's Fanfic: Trusting the Machine, which I'm reading now.
There's T:TSCC icons! And Summer icons! Wee!
