The housing agency called. They tell me that one of the requirements for me to get the room is my having a (Dutch) Sofi number (think social security number). But I don't have one. I'd only need to get one if I wanted to work here. And I won't be able to get one on time. Meaning I don't get the room.
Let me say that again: because I'm not Dutch, I can't apply to any of the long-term rooms available in an agency. And have limited choice and chances in getting a room, period.
Xenophobic bastards.
The only plus side is that Mom, who'll be swinging by for a few days before going on south to deal with inheritance stuff, will be able to stay with me during that interim.
