Things to do:
Find comm’s where to post “Copper”, such as
beforeserenity just after K comments and a beta gives it a one over. Might even get adventurous and beta/post the pre-R/J scene that I’ll later (someday) mesh into the Jayne-fic.
Go to
big_damn_quests to ask about Mal and his injections in Serenity (it’s the plural that confuses me) and figure out, once and for all, how much a whore in the Firefly ‘verse costs. (Or, well, would cost.)
I think I want to do something with Floyd, the pimp. By which I mean, give him a bigger part in the as-yet-unclear plot. I kinda like the guy.
Save “Late-night call” to disk in order to write that R&S scene.
Email mom about the upcoming movie The Devil Wears Praga ‘cause she read the book.
Investigate www.gradschools.com some more, especially those courses in the Netherlands. Try not to panic.
Oh sweet fucking god, just remembered that I once read a sci-fi story about warriors who cut into themselves, breaking bones and causing deformities and that just screams “reaver”.
Three other Serenity details I’ve noticed: a) “You hold. Hold till I get back,” is a quote from Firefly, b) one of the few references to Blue Sun is when Jayne drinks from a Blue Sun bottle after learning the truth on Miranda and c) Jayne says, “..dead for no reason” and we zoom in on Wash. Delightful foreshadowing. (Thanks to
active_apathy’s icon for making me notice this.)
Utterly Firefly-iffic quotes ganked from
darthmaligna and
evadne_noel’s song memes:
The problem is all inside your head / she said to me 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon
Well, I’m gonna show you, baby, / that a woman can be tough (Take Another Little) Piece of My Heart by Janis Joplin
And every word is nonsense, but I understand, and / Oh, Lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing. Anna Begins by Counting Crows
The only thing there is to say: / Every silver lining’s got a touch of gray Touch of Gray by The Grateful Dead
You'll burn my flag / You'll crash my car / You'll kill my cat / You'll break my balls / You'll watch my cities fall / But not tonight Voltaire Out of Reach Crazy!River attacks again!
Comb my hair back / Strike a match on the bathroom wall / Where my number was written (title = ? by = ?) Mainly a River-quote for me, but everyone has a number.
I'm pulled down by the undertow / I never thought I could feel so low / Oh darkness, I feel like letting go Full of Grace by Sarah McLachlan “Bullet in the brainpan”, anyone?
I love you so much, can't count all the ways / I'd die for you, girl, and all they can say is, "He's not your kind" Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon by Urge Overkill
That boy isn't good for you / Though he may want you too This Boy Rufus Wainwright and Sean Lennon
Never mind, there's nothing I could do / Bet your life there's something killing you / It's a shame we have to die, my dear / No one's getting out of here alive DOA by Foo Fighters
Hey, put down the gun / What are you thinking? / You were someone's son Feathery Wings by Voltaire
I hold the whole world accused / I've only got myself to blame / I wonder why, I never wonder why / The easiest things are so hard (title = ? by = ?)
They ain't got a chance / I need a gun / 'Cause all I do is dance Dirty Harry by Gorillaz River! That is all.
Tacks on the floor and the TV is on / And I always sleep with my guns when you're gone Goodnight Moon by Shivaree
Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices? / I've heard them calling my name The Rainbow Connection by Sarah McLachlan
Long ago I went to war / To fight the scourge of Christendom / I held aloft my blessed sword / And said, "By God, let them come" Crusade by Voltaire
Things get damaged / Things get broken / I thought we'd managed / But words left unspoken / Left us so brittle / There was so little left to give Precious by Depeche Mode
