“You have no idea where you are, do you?” Chip flopped down on the bed, pushing one of the bags under his head as a pillow.

“I’m the one who’s doing most of the driving.”

“While I’m the one doing all that boring map reading stuff, right?”

Steve kicked at Chip’s leg softly and sat down beside him. Chip settled himself more comfortably on the mattress and watched Steve as he shuffled through the brochures. Steve loved those things, loved walking into motels and tourist offices and grabbing every brochure he could find. It did not matter what they were about – taxidermy museums, gold and silver mine tours, hiking trails – he took them all. He would mull them over, reading out choice passages at Chip through the bathroom door, or barging in to show him the more hilarious photographs, and by the time Chip was out of the shower and dressed Steve would have the perfect itinerary.
