Just popping in to say it's the eve of NaNoWriMo so if and when I post anything here, it'll be word counts and whining about word counts and possibly, if I'm lucky, being prideful of word counts. You have been warned.

So far I've written fuck all :(

You too, we're gonna be okay! *squishes*

*squishes back*

Yes, we're going to be absolutely fine! *slightly hysterical laughter* Seriously though, it's day one. We just need to get into the swing of it.

Which is why I'm currently describing all the things. All of them. Fluffing that word count like it's a pillow, aw yeah.

*snuggles mightily*

I'm gonna have to go hide so's I can type, I think, my brain's melty and the dog's in a mood because I put margerine on her toast this morning.

Good point! It's a sci-fi 'verse, I can describe all the things! After all, Jules Verne got away with three solid pages on the fish swimming past the window...

Go on and type, then. *cuddles you before you go* I'm wrestling with the procrastination monster myself, but I think I've got it in a choke-hold.

And oooooh, sci-fi \o/

I need to hide from RL more than internet, lol, the internet doesn't have a dog sighing at the wall and then looking over her shoulder at me to make sure I know she's sulking. I wrote 2k on my non-NaNo project after midnight last night that I was gonna keep as a back-up, I might use those and then work out some more tonight. I seem to work best in the early a.m. hours for some reason.

*huggles you*

I wrote 2k after midnight last night that I was gonna keep as a back-up, I might use those and then work out some more tonight. - *impressed and incoherent sputtering* 2k, holy wow. Yes, you should totally use it, especially since it would give you a buffer so you wouldn't have to panic every day to complete the quota.

I only managed some 400 last night and it's just not working tonight. (I work best in the wee night hours apparently? Less real-life distractions.)

*pets your sulking dog* *cuddles up beside you and offers tea* Come on, just a few words more *\o/*

I just like writing the fun bits, that's my trouble XD And I can't decide where to start this story or what plot type to use so I went back to a work-in-progress. I need that buffer, lol.

Early-hours-writers Unite!

*snuggles in* *breaks out the brownies* We can totally do this thing!!!

Well, why not go for a destructured, non-linear novel? Start in the middle, stick the introduction after the ending, that sort of thing? Basically say, "Ahahaha - no" to structure and write the fun bits and just keep writing the fun bits?

I'm currently writing the boring introduction bits, though, so what do I know. *sigh*

*omnoms brownies* *hands over the chocolate sprinkles*

That sounds like a good plan, lol XD I think the trouble is I'm okay with "write stories!" but the moment it became "write a novel!" I went and read all these 'how to write' books and now I'm like *kaput* and trying to mangle what I want to write into 20 Master Plots and How to Build Them, and follow Book in a Month.

There's good word count to be had in those bits tho *winks*

Sweet, sprinkles! *gets out the hot chocolate, the good stuff, with some rose sugar to sprinkle*

LMAO, yeah, we will XD

*cuddles you tight* Well, if it's the "write a novel" idea that's blocking your typing, keep in mind that there's plenty of novels out there that are basically just a bunch of separate stories strung together. (Ray Bradbury's From the Dust Returned (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_the_Dust_Returned), for example.)

That hot chocolate mix looks divine! *breaks out the whipped cream*

*Huggles* Now that I think, one of my favourite books fits that short-story idea. The author died ain her twenties and the short-stories she'd written so far were
formed into a pseudo-novel.

It is sooooooo good. I was bought some as a present and it's nom.

Do it! DOOOOO IIIIIIIT! I am supporting you 100%! Thanks to this hurricane, I've had nothing to do all day yesterday except type. Funny how motivating that can be.

Cheers!

To the writing machines! And the pudding vats! And maybe the liquor store, because really, who hasn't gotten their inspiration from a fine gin and tonic? That's right, NO ONE. Drink up!

You're my bestest cheerleader and almost-fan this year!

Also, nice Loki icon. Score.

I am armed with tea and a whole box of chocolates (including a chocolate snowman, who I will undoubtedly torture slowly at some point). And speaking of pudding vats, can't you make gin pudding? Just...slip all the gin into the vat and oops?)

Aw! I'll try and keep cheering you on throughout the month! If the wordcount eats me and I don't make it, though, you can have my chocolate.

(Also, how are you holding up with the weather? Safe and dry, I hope?)

Mmm, gin pudding! I keep thinking that would be a good idea, but then I get distracted by chocolate pudding, and then mmm chocolate, and then I say ooh, there's gin here, let's make a gin and tonic, and then I'm drunk and full of chocolate pudding and there goes another Tuesday night.

The weather certainly did a number on this area. New Jersey is devastated. Lots of tree damage, and lots of power lines snapped. I've got no power, which means I'm sitting in my car sometimes charging up the laptop battery and cell phone. Oh yes, we're roughing it over here. ;-)

Your Tuesday nights sound much more fun than mine. Maybe I should eat all those cherry liquor chocolates all in one go?

I'm glad you're safe and that, like a good Nanowrimo writer, you have your priorities straight ;) I hope the damage gets cleared up soon.

PS: WRITE! WRITE MORE! WRITE FASTER! GO GO GO!

From: [identity profile] chaosvizier.livejournal.com
Hahahaha oh god I would hump your leg for one of those cherry liquor chocolate right now you have no idea THEY ARE SO DELICIOUS and by hump your leg I mean I'd probably just write the word "HUMP" on a sheet of paper and tape it to your leg because you'd get the idea.

Also, I'm at work NaNo'ing because most of our work servers are down and I can't actually accomplish much in the first place. Go figure. But still! I'm on chapter three of crapty-eight!

Date: 2012-11-01 07:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bending-sickle.livejournal.com
You don't have to hump my leg at all! Or break out the hump-paper! Take the cherry liquor chocolates! Take them all! They are a vile abomination unto the gods of chocolate. (The gods of booze beat them the day those chocolate were made.)

Chapter three, you say? *quiet sobbing* I'm on page two.

Date: 2012-11-01 08:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chaosvizier.livejournal.com
Hee hee, hump-paper.

It's ok, page two could be like chapter three, if you have short chapters. You're doing great! Like Tony the Tiger! Don't be discouraged; I promise no more leg humping or hump-papering. (Maybe some hump-catting, though...)

Hmm, maybe it's already gin o'clock...

Date: 2012-11-01 09:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bending-sickle.livejournal.com
It's always gin o'clock ;)

Alright, I've got to buckle down and get some 300 words out before I can call it quits for the day. Wish me luck! (And possibly insomnia as well.)
