In real life news: I'm going to explore Manchester (and possibly take a day trip or so to Birmingham) Sept. 11 - 17. Hold me.

In fandom news:

I wrote Teen Wolf fic:

Live With Wolves, and You Learn to Howl - Stiles asks Derek for the bite.

Link by Link - Sequel to Live With Wolves... ; Peter gives Derek his two cents.

Where's the Fire? - Sheriff Stilinski waits up for his son.

Les Pions, il sont l’âme des Echecs (Pawns are the Soul of Chess) - Gerard punches Stiles, Peter saves Stiles, and Stiles has no idea what's going on.

Long Day (Longer Night) - Stiles finally makes it home after the events of the season two finale.

Linear Equations - Stiles is getting ready for something he can't cope with just yet.

Of Sound Mind - Sequel to Linear Equations ; Scott copes with Stiles' coping.

[livejournal.com profile] seschat and I made a Teen Wolf fanmix for Stiles, Derek and Peter:

(Back Cover, Track List and Link)

I made Teen Wolf fanart:

Ride the silver fish (you will not drown).
Ride the grey wolf (hold tightly to his fur).

Neil Gaiman - "Instructions"

I transcribed Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap's basil oil recipe. Yes, that's [livejournal.com profile] ursulav.

Thirty Questions About Myself

2. All the places you’ve lived - In vague chronological order:

Belgium (Brussels), Kenya (Nairobi & Amboseli National Park), Italy (Rome), Costa Rica (San José), Canada (Montreal & Toronto), Mexico (Mexico City), Greece (Athens), Spain (Barcelona & Villaveta), The Netherlands (The Hague & Leiden)

*hysterical laughter* Yeah, we've moved around a lot. You should see my list of residences, it's way longer than that.

3. Your first best friend - Christopher, from my kindergarten. The friendship lasted until I was four or five (we moved out of the country, great surprise). We were inseparable, as kids who play on the monkey bars and run around the yard and take baths together are. I've always remembered him very fondly.

A few years ago, I went back to Nairobi and met up with his mom, who was ecstatic at seeing me again and told me stories of the two of us playing around. She even called her son up and passed the phone over to me and...he didn't remember me at all. Which was understandable but kinda tears right through me a bit.

4. Your childhood fears - Something reaching up to grab me from under the bed, sharks in the swimming pool (thanks, bro!), the usual.

5. What you were like in high school - I went to three high schools. In the first one, I'd been there since the second grade, so that was a good few years of being with the same classmates. We were all pretty close and often played together in recess. We went through different crazes. One year it was four-square, another it was tetherball or hopscotch. I didn't have a lot of close friends, especially after my closest friend dropped me like a hot pocket for a newcomer, but I got along with everyone. I was still shy, still quiet, still liked to read during recess.

In my next high school, I came into my own a bit more. I had a little group of friends and we were very close, hanging out in the locker rooms, going to each other's houses, having sleep overs that involved no sleep whatsoever, and so on. I did have a massive crush on a guy in my class which my friends kept feeding to the point where I actually called him, with two of my friends on the line trying not to breathe.

In my last high school, I eventually settled in with a group of friends but it wasn't as close as the previous one. We hung out but then it'd turn out that they also hung out without me so that made me feel a bit left out. I was on good terms with most everyone, though, except for the "unapproachable popular kids", of course. I went back to reading a lot, and spending more time by myself.

I also had a bit of a mess where a guy had a crush on me and decided to handle that by becoming my friend. All well and good except he developed the Nice Guy syndrome, because the whole point of the friendship had been to eventually get it on with me (even though I said, explicitly, from the get-go that I liked him as a friend but hells to the no for boyfriend, to which he was all "of course as friends"). Seriously, I'd be happy in our friendship and he'd be going on about "where is this relationship going?" and "we're graduating soon, why don't we try to be in a relationship?" and "can I kiss you?" and how many times do I have to say no to that?!?

So I guess I was as I always am. Shy and quiet in general but with a small group of friends with whom I can be myself.

6. Your favourite and least favourite subjects at school - English and Biology were my favourites (except that one year where we had an absolutely terrible English teacher). I loathed gym. Loathed it. Team sports are horrible when you're shy and not too good at the sport and no one ever explained the rules to you or even the game.

7. Your first boyfriend or girlfriend
8. Your oldest hobby
9. Your sexuality
10. What you look for in a partner
11. Your kids, or your feelings about having kids
12. Your pets, past and present
13. Foods you love and foods you hate
14. What your life was like ten years ago
15. How much alcohol you drink
16. Your worst illness
17. What you do at work
18. A question or comment people should never make to you
19. The style of clothing you feel most comfortable in
20. Whether you’re an extrovert or an introvert
21. Who you have a crush on
22. A friendship you lost
23. Three achievements you’re proud of
24. Your political views
25. Your religious beliefs
26. Your perfect night out
27. Whether you like to plan ahead or be spontaneous
28. What you look for in a friend
29. Whether you’re a night owl or a morning lark
30. How you would like people to remember you
