Tuesday everyone was buzzing about an imminent earthquake of catastrophic proportions expected for Wednesday, May 11th. People were joking - or not so much - about leaving the city. I did a quick google, and it turned out that recent studies had nothing to do with the earthquake and it was all about the 30-year-old prediction claimed to have been made by the self-trained Italian earthquake predictor prior to his death in 1979. Still, Wednesday morning, all the radios were talking about the impending earthquake, and quite a few shops were closed.

But coincidences never cease, because turns out there was an earthquake that day or pretty large proportions, just not in Rome. It was in Murcia, Spain: a 5.1 M earthquake with nine dead and dozens injured. Of course, some people will probably say that Raffaele Bendandi was right in his prediction, just a few miles off. Of course, other people will say that earthquakes happen all the time, on a global scale, and that it's no big coincidence.

In other news, my parents have gone off on vacation for a month, so I'm all on my lonesome. This means "yay, freedoooooom" and also, les fun, "ugh, choooores". I worried a lot this morning and again this afternoon, when I left the house, about forgetting my keys or accidentally locking myself out, but that'll pass. From how worried my folks were, you'd think I didn't know how to take care of myself! Everything's going to be fine, though. (Until, of course, I start my proper internship on the 30th and freak out the whole day before over what I'm going to wear, and freak out in the morning over making breakfast and still being on time.) On the plus side, I think I'll be able to get a lot of things done. I even went running and stationary-biking today! Whoot!

Hon, I'm currently working on my Time We Saw a Miracle fanmix (shocking, I know, but I'm having fun!), and remember when you said this part/description of Kezef was an allusion to ______ (?)

The figure, now fully resolved, took the shape of a man – too tall, too thin, all of its angles too sharp – as
it stepped over the void between two cars. A red haze rose up from his shoulders, shimmering like heat
on a summer road. When its feet touched the roof, it was the shape of a woman – somehow both
voluptuous and all muscle, its tongue peeking out from the corner of its mouth. Another step shifted
into a bound as a huge wolf – monstrous in size and presence – landed on the car directly in front of
Chip.

I'd really like to read up about that, if you'd give me a hint where to start? Also, this part is pretty epic, just so you know. Rereading happily. ♥

The image of the too-tall, too-thin man is very loosely based on Lasher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mayfair_Witches#Lasher) (a sort of super-human giant) of Anne Rice's The Mayfair Witches novels (the first novel's awesome, the next ones not so much).

The woman with the tongue peeking out is Kali (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kali#Iconography), whom you'll remember from Supernatural's "Hammer of the Gods". She's the Hindu goddess of time and change, although that can often be violence.

The wolf is Fenrir (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenrir) of the Norse mythology, who is bound in chains until Ragnarok (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnarok) (i.e. the apocalypse).
