Life is hard. After all, it kills you.*
Jan. 17th, 2011 10:57 pmI'm still very much in the dumps today going around with a sort of "fuck off and leave me alone to die not like you'd care" mindframe, which is fun in that there is nothing fun about it and I'd like to stop feeling like this now kthx.
For some reason I have yet to understand, I watched half of Karla (trailer) yesterday. Now, simply rewatching that movie would usually raise all sorts of questions as to just what sort of psychological self-harm I'm going for, except I was honestly watching is as a comfort. The movie's about this. You can see how the math does not compute, right? And yet, because I didn't have a horror movie to scare me witless (Paranormal Activity 2 isn't out on DVD until February), I apparently went for the movie that I first watched with my hands over my eyes and mouth and peeking through in horror amidst a lot of "lalalala I can't hear you" and instantly booted off my property (only to drag it back and rewatch it properly so I could give it a fair trial before sending it one more to the bowels of hell), as the movie I wanted to distract me from the call of the Dodos of Doom.
In my defense, I'd already gone the stand-up comedy route with Dara O Briain Live at the Theatre Royal and it only helped for as long as I was watching it.
I had a bunch of other stuff I'd been meaning to post about, not least of which was a recounting of my first German lesson in years, or possibly a paragraph in German, just to flex the old muscles, but what I've written so far is about as far as I can go tonight.

Date: 2011-01-18 06:47 pm (UTC)I'm glad you could find solace in gruesome horror movies, though. *pets lovingly* The only thing that ever cheers me up these days (beside you, of course) is watching Tom Hardy cuddle a rather unattractive dog while crying in an aesthetically pleasing manner, so, you know, if watching people get tortured/killed/___ in a disturbing and creative way cheers you up, it doesn't matter if it makes no sense. :D
♥! Have a song?

Date: 2011-01-18 07:23 pm (UTC)(I can't suggest you watch it because of the mind-searing and "cannot unsee' factor and you'll never look at Misha in the same way again - at least, not when he's got blond highlights - but it might be worth considering. Just, be warned that a lot of people really wish they hadn't seen it, it's very very recent history, but that the victim's families were, thankfully, approving of the film.)
I do have Friday the 13th though, which I've been meaning to picspam and snark the hell out of. Or, y'know, oogle at Jared in his tight T-shirt being all smexy as hell. (Bad movie, but watch it for the pretty.)
Song is ♥

Date: 2011-01-20 07:45 pm (UTC)I haven't been interested in anything horror or thriller for as long as I can remember, but the pretty might just lure me in one day. (If I'm very bored. Which is the case horrendously often, now that I think about it ... ;p)
♥!!
(ALSO LOOK I HAVE A SHERLOCK ICON NOW :D)

Date: 2011-01-20 09:34 pm (UTC)I now have an instant "KILL IT WITH FIRE!" reaction to Misha with blond scragly hair. For example, the PSYCHOPATHIC PIECE OF SHIT, to use your incredibly appropriate label:
means I can no longer enjoy things like the sweet guy next door in Finding Home (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm966756352/tt0228301) or Our Overlord:
without my brain making the wrong connection and starting to freak out until it gets a hold of the fact that this is a different character. I don't know, it just made a very big impression on me.
Alright, if you ever watch this movie for the pretty or the boredom, be prepared, it is not an easy thing to watch. There's a lot of pretty (including gloriously low-slung jeans and a lack of shirt in the one scene where I can appreciate the pretty without going BUT HE'S A FUCKING PSYCHO) and he delivers an amazing performance, but it's got fucked up people doing horrible things as the main characters. And they're real people.
That said, Sherlock FTW!

Date: 2011-01-21 06:00 pm (UTC)Currently re-watching A Study in Pink, since I just need a second watch to pay extra attention to all the lovely details because I am an obsessed freak like that. (Buttons! Textures! Shirts! Shoes! Ties! Lamps! Shelves! Stairs! Speech patterns! Dress styles! WHAT IS UP WITH MYCROFT AND THAT UMBRELLA! Things like that. :D)

Date: 2011-01-21 09:03 pm (UTC)One reason I'm so sad they gave Cas his powers back and made him more of an angel in the "doesn't understand humans" is that now we'll probably never see Cas take the damn coat off (well, again, but I'd rather he did so without a box-cutter in hand) and be adorably native and human. Although at this rate I just hope we get to see more of him, period. Cas! Where've you been all season?!
A Study in Pink is my favorite of the three episodes :D
WHAT IS UP WITH MYCROFT AND THAT UMBRELLA! - *unending giggle-fit* Oh gods, yes! His umbrella twirling! He's awesome too!

Date: 2011-01-21 10:15 pm (UTC)Ugh, I have my fingers crossed that SPN post-haitus (...XD?) has a lot more Cas, because I seriously am not feeling the love for the brothers storyline at the moment :| Although who knows what kind of shit will go down now that Sam's gotten his soul back. *is hopeful* I just want to be able to flail all over one of my "old" fandoms again, just once. Because ugh, but you know how feel about House. IT'S BREAKING MY HEART, IT IS.
I think I like A Study in Pink the most, too, though the third episode comes pretty close. ♥ I adore absolutely everything about Sherlock though, it just makes me so stupidly happy. :D
I hope I will find a really good fic about the relationship between Mycroft and Sherlock, by which I mean snarky, but affectionate, even if the affection may be well-hidden. EVEN IF SHERLOCK TRIES TO DENY.

Date: 2011-01-21 10:25 pm (UTC)Also, I don't think I've mentioned it yet, but I'm going to see the Magic Flute tomorrow! I can't help but be excited, even though I don't even like that opera. Except for the Queen of the Night, because she has some awesome parts, but otherwise. The dialogue, gods. *grins* And they say this opera is supposed to be one of the three big mysteries of the world, along with the Mona Lisa and some other thing that I forgot about. :p
And afterwards I'll be going to Nathi's birthday party, which will be SO crowded and I'm guessing there will be crazy all around, but. MY CHANCE TO DRINK AND EAT A FUCKLOAD OF CHERRY PIE. (I'm probably sounding like an alcoholic by now XD But I haven't even been properly pissed since... I don't know? It's always like this with me [and now I'm just foolishly assuming you haven't long closed the window because my comment is so pointless, random and boring XD]: one drink, I usually start getting tipsy, I stop drinking because ~dignity~, I sober up and get really tired and usually start dozing on someone's shoulder, which used to be PHILIPP MY OH SO WONDERFUL BFFFFF! by which I mean, the bastard doesn't deserve my friendship because he only ever talks to me or wants to see me if there's something he needs or if he's broken up with his girlfriend. Which is the case today, right now. gah. Sometimes I hate that I even like him and want his friendship and want to be ~appreciated~. /RAMBLE. Oh gods what did I just write. :|

Date: 2011-01-21 10:37 pm (UTC)The third mystery is how Misha's pants stayed up in that scene. It's impossible.
Cherry pie? It better be this cherry pie! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhwSERpBE4o) But no pie for Philip. Boy don't deserve no pie if he doesn't appreciate you. (But then, I appreciate you, and where's my damn pie?!? *sad pie-less Sickle*)
Heh, I also get really tired and sleepy when I drink (which is so not often enough!) Hm, that's another thing you and I need to do when we hang out (when, damnit, 'cause it will happen): chill out on a comfy sofa and drink booze and doze on each others shoulders. It'll be a blast!
I LOVE YOUR RAMBLES ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE YOU. ♥

Date: 2011-01-21 10:45 pm (UTC)Oh, no, don't give up on the boys! (Although if they don't make up and start acting like actual co-dependent brothers again, I'm going to hurt someone. With words.) It'll get better!
Even though they killed off Lucifer and Crowley and Gabriel.*firm nod*You know what's breaking my heart? This week not having any new episodes for any of my shows. Whyyyyy?
If you find that fic depicting Mycroft&Sherlock with the snark, affection, denial and Sherlock upsets their mother and Mycroft is all, "sigh, my brother's an idiot genius", I will squee all over you.
