...you might as well go for the Zombie package as well.*
The title quote sums up my Nano wonderfully :D
Life, sorta: I spent ages today trying to find a photograph which I'm sure must exist somewhere other than my imagination. All I want is a nice clear shot of a dismembered crow or raven wing with nothing else. It would make the best book cover *pout* In my head the whole cover's black, and there's this wing (with the shoulder in the center, feathers going up and to the right) with bright red blood on the shoulder-joint. It's all glossy and pretty and epic and ~*symbolic*~ and nowhere on the internet. Woe.
NaNo: Oh gods, let me never skip a day again. I took to having a Google tab open, entering my word count goal and my current count into the calculator obsessively every few minutes, trying to count down to the 0 words left to write area. Over 2,700 words in one day! And it just never stops, because tomorrow there's more! Argh, yo. I'm still delighted that I know what I want to write, though. I suspect I'm going to be entering blank territory soon, which is going to be less fun.
Progress today was a big zombie-chase and fight, although I fear that my limited description makes it more of a "Oh noes! Zombies! Run! Thwack! Safe!" I think I may just suck at action. And maybe my descriptions are too flowery, run-on and adjectivey. Anywho, we had on-screen zombie-killing, whoot! Oh, and Chip totally has some wierd angel-vision thing going on 'cause he got ex-angel blood on his eyes :) I picked maroon because the internets says maroon auras are violent, and therefore zombie-appropriate.

There were infected people everywhere, running into the street from all sides as they followed the noise of commotion in an otherwise quiet city. They didn’t make any noise either, which was another thing that creeped Chip out to no end. He could deal with the aggressiveness, the animalistic posture promising evisceration, the unflinching gaze, but for them to do this all in total silence, keeping silence even whilst giving chase, seemed to cross the line of what he could accept.
Of course, that line had been slowly eroding away or being redrawn closer over and over again until one day Chip would be stepping on the line and then finding himself on the other side of sane. But for now, it made his skin crawl to see all these creatures who had once been people – decent people, who could shop, read books, ride bicycles, talk about the weather, drink coffee, all very normal things – pulling up to a stop after a chase with nary a change in expression, walking up the street towards their cars in total silence.
They couldn’t stay inside their cars forever, though. They were safe enough now, but if all those infected came at them and surrounded the cars, they would be left with only one option: run more. The infected wouldn’t leave the cars if they saw there were people inside. It wasn’t that much of a problem for Chip – he could always pick up and go, had a full tank and fresh supplies – but he knew Saunders would be a goner without him. Even if the door was a few feet from Saunders’ car, Chip was sure that it would take only one infected to bring him down.
So Chip had to act fast if he wanted to stay, had to get them on the other side of the thick apartment building door before more infected joined the ones that were rushing towards them. He grabbed his crowbar from the passenger seat, lugged his re-stocked duffel onto his shoulder and lay a hand on the doorhandle.
He took the time to think, Christ, that’s a lot of them, as he watched the infected flock in from either side of the street at a run, and then he was out, closing and locking the car in easy, practiced movements as the familiar hammer of adrenaline shook him.
Seeing him, the infected picked up their pace.
Chip scrambled across the hood of his car, unbidden reassurance budding at being behind the makeshift barrier of the two cars, and ran to Saunders’ car, where the man was already getting out. An infected hit the side of the car, momentum too great to stop, and Chip swung his crowbar at it. A satisfying crack told him he hit his mark, but he brought down the bar again. Always make sure.
Two more infected were running towards them from the right, three more a few paces behind these, and a similar situation was closing in on them to the right. It looked like every infected for blocks around, those that heard the futon-clanging or the car race, were pouring in from either side of the street, a sea of maroon coming to engulf them.
Chip threw his duffel at Saunders, shouting, “Get the door open!”
Saunders grabbed the bag and fumbled with a ring of keys one-handed as Chip swung his crowbar at an infected trying to crawl over the back of the car. He missed, cursed, then swung the crowbar upwards, hitting the infected – a blond-haired woman in a business suit, her hair tinged red in Chip’s maroon-filter vision – right under the jaw. The loud snap of cracking bones could be easily heard over the stamp of running feet and Saunders’ panicked muttering as he jabbed the key into the door. An infected – its blue-banded braces clearly visible, if still with an aura of maroon, as it bared it teeth to bite - was reaching for Chip on his right, while to his left, just a hairsbreadth from Saunders, another was crawling over the car. Chip wacked the one with braces on the ear and turned to hit the other in the middle of its back as it lay across the car. It squirmed and fell at Saunders’ feet, its legs useless but its arms reaching out for them. Chip cracked its head open as Saunders opened the door before following.

Quote of the Day:
However: still pissed at Show treating Sam and Ruby's fucked up, drug dealer/mother/lover/Dean substitute/unconditional acceptance of demon heritage relationship - as black and white stupidity when SO MUCH proved it was anything but.
