The drum beats out of time.*
Dec. 4th, 2007 10:31 pmThere's a gazillion squeeful posts on my flist about Heroes and I can't read any of them!!! Gah. And the way things are going - i.e. unless 16% -> 100% in under 20 minutes - I won't be able to read them until...oh, tomorrow night? Feh. But I want to squee too! *pout*
Waiting for the train, I got blind-sided by a crack metaphor. I think it does a decent job of explaining the life and times of me and how I've been coping. I jotted it down on the train and am too tired to fix it (it's 12:39 am), or even notice if it needs fixing. (I have another crack metaphor about anxiety that I'll post some other time.)
Of all the cogs and wheels inside, something's shifted out of place. It still ticks - it's not as broken as that, hasn't irrevocably jammed itself into the intricate machinery - but it's pressed up against something. And that pressure is slowing it down. (Maybe by two seconds** - Gabriel would know.) All I can hope is for the ticking to continue, for the wobbley part to stay as firm as it can. Maybe, in time - tick after difficult tick - the little piece'll rub itself a groove against whatever innocent other it's caught up against. (If, of course, it hasn't fallen off and stopped the machinery completely.) The groove may one day be deep enough, smooth enough, for the listing piece to once again turn unimpeded. But I'd still have a groove, and I'd be late by much more than two seconds.

heroes_rpf is gooood crack. (What? Don't look at me like that. If my brain can't think it, people write it. It's all good.) Of course, my brain wouldn't ever have thought of Milo Eye for the Heroes Guy, but that's what
12_12_12 is for. 'Tis hilarious. Part 2 has an absolutely lung-busting screencap/caption Milo-entrance.
