Icarus and Chip angst. Angst like woah. So much angst. (Then they got drunk. Off the page, but still. Drunk.)

Also? I am going to break Icarus. You know Dave Matthew's Band "Grace is Gone"? That's how he is now. You know The Tea Party's "The Messenger"? That's what he's got in store, because when its Angel of Punishment vs. Fallen Angel, the math is pretty easy. (This means, of course, that we now can has novel climax!)

Never leave a brother behind didn't seem to be a motto up in Heaven.

"I suppose I do have a soul now. I am human now, at least, and my essence is human-bound. Maybe when I die..."

Chip stared harder at the ceiling, trying not to blink (or maybe the trick was to blink quickly). But the way is shut. Heaven's locked up. He thought it, but didn’t say it out loud. Icarus didn’t need to be told that. He knew.

Chip brought up his free arm around Icarus, still rubbing his arm gently with the other. A long sigh against his chest told him exactly when Icarus let go of futile hopes.
