And there's still a lot of plotty things (or at least logical things that need to be done) before I can relax and write a straightforward Attack of the Hordes. I don't even know what I'm doing with this anymore. Too many characters! Of course, I have a hard time juggling four, so cut me some slack. Also, it's starting to feel like the day that will not die.

“I’ll get yours,” she whispered. Blood trickled down her face, dipping around her nose and rolling down her cheek like a weeping statue without a church. “I’ll rip your pretty skin off and sink right in. Then I’ll flay everyone in this little cage and colour my hands with their blood, put some writing of my own on the walls.” She wiped the blood off her cheek and rubbed it between her fingertips, smearing it over palm. “I’ll let you watch.”
Icarus fired again, much to the woman’s amusement. Somewhere far behind them, back towards the centre of the camp, came an answering shout. Chip scrambled to his feet, every single part of his body shaking – his knees, his hands, his jaw clattering away with his teeth – and his ears were ringing from the gunshots.
