Public Service Announcement: November Madness
As many of you may know, November is Nanowrimo Month and we here at Imaginary Gardens are participating. This means public service will be erratic, as all of our resources will go towards writing an average of 1,667 words a day, every day, for the whole of November. Post content for the coming month will thus deal with a) whining and moaning about writing, b) whining and moaning about not writing, and c) squee about what was written.
We at Imaginary Gardens ask only for your patience, although donations of enthusiasm and encouragement - all forms accepted! - are greatly appreciated. Our representative will gladly return the favour to any parties also participating in Nanowrimo. Our supplies of *hugs* are fully stocked, and we've just ordered an extra supply of CAPSLOCK.

Sickle's Brief Review of Supernatural 6x06, You Can't Handle the Truth:
- Can we keep the director, Jan Eliasberg? Seriously, ♥ There were some shots where I completely forgot what I was watching and instead just gawked and sputtered, "That's a gorgeous shot!"
- The opener was absolutely brilliant and awesome and I loved it. The Veritas Phenomenon felt a bit like telepaths out of control, and I approve.
- I literally did a fist pump when Dean considered that maybe, just maybe, Lucifer had been playing him this whole while. Because he never checked that Sam wasn't Lucifer! Man, I wanted to shake Dean so hard in Exile on Main Street.
- Castiel broke my heart. (And then then boys trampled on it and threw it in the blender.) He looked so tired and worn and even his voice sounded less angelicly gruff and just soft and normal and tired. Oh Cas! ETA: And he was so appologetic to Dean! And his heart looked like it was breaking when Dean called him a dick! Like, "Omg, why are you putting me in the same group as all the other angels that you hate so much?"
- Dean on the phone with Lisa? Ow, my heart. Dean hanging up after talking to Lisa? Heart went and had a good cry in a corner.
- Bobby made me howl with laughter. ♥ (And Dean's his favorite! Double ♥)
- I was actually, honestly scared of Sam when he called the sister's bluff. Like, he made my skin crawl in a "oh sweet mother get it away don't let it see me oh gods" way. I could probably count on a very badly mangled hand the number of times something evil on Supernatural has elicited that emotional reaction (rather than the intellectual, "dude, you craaazy evil" reaction).
- When Dean was in the bar, my sneaking suspicions came to a point and I started gesticulating and muttering, "It's the television!" and it was a frustrating while until the show caught up.
- Oh gods, Mittens and the cat-killing. I'd imagine it went a bit like Drag Me to Hell. Here kitty, kitty.
- I so knew Sam was lying, the little rat, mainly because of the utterly pathetic lying, as seen again with Veritas. It was just a by-the-book "say what they want to hear" lie with an added dose of "let's emote!". (I still love you, Sam! I'm just very upset at you!) Of course, I was thinking it was because he was holding the summoning box thingy and thus immune, or because he was just that mentally strong - oh hai he put Lucifer away - but it's worse than that. And seeing Dean's face as he struggled with "the truth" was just... My heart! What have you done to my heart! It's all ragged and broken!
- Remember how there was that one scene in Devour which made me cringe and capslock and go "lalalala not listening lalala my hands are over my eyes lalala MAKE IT GO AWAY"? Yeah, the doctor scene in this episode? The same. The tongue extraction? Same. Damnit, show, I can handle gore but you are hitting my squicks so hard.
- I loved Veritas and her cat-face and dungeon scene. That is all.
- Did Sam...nod? When Veritas asked if she should ask Dean about him?
- Yes! My meta didn't get completely jossed! You're not human! Although it might have gotten a little jossed, because Cas was all, "If Lucifer got out, we'd know!" but then I thought, well, yeah, if all of Luicfer, undistilled, got out, yes. But what about a tiny little piece piggy-backing on Sam? (Although I'm perfectly fine with the idea of Sam missing his soul or part of it, especially considering the emphasis the show's been placing on souls these past few episodes.) And yes, Sam, we know you can't feel anything, we've been saying that since day one.
- Dean, baby, puppy, darling! You are
not a killermore than a killer! And you can so totes be a dad! I've heard your scary booming authoritarian dad-voice! That truth you were spouting? That's what you think is the truth, and you, dearest, are mistaken. - I wanted to believe Sam at the end, I really did, but by principle, when people who've been lying all the time suddenly do an about-face and say, "okay, now it's totally the truth" I smack 'em. Not as hard or as long as Dean - because yowza, that was just... Although he did say, "You want the truth? Here it is, God's honest,", which just about raises every flag I've got for this show.
- All in all, and decided very early on in the viewing, this is my favorite episode of the season so far. It's the first time in a long time that I've enjoyed it so much. I loved it all, the angst, the humour, the monster-of-the-week, the story arc... ♥

Quote of the Day: Luke Rhinehart, The Dice Man
Of course, continuity is sometimes tenuous, content thin. Digressions proliferate like weapons in a peace-lovng country. I may have to rewrite the thing seven or eight times. But words are written. To a writer, this is fulfillment. Creativity or crap, it counts.
