I felt veritably perky this morning! I don't know what's happened, but I was shimmying along to The Young Dubliners' "I'll Tell Me Ma" and Fiddler's Green's "Rambling Rover" as I was getting ready for the outside world.

I went off to the Hague for a walkabout, which wasn't really a walkabout but rather a "Oh gods I need food now" because leaving the house just around lunch time is not a good idea. Anyway, ridiculous amounts of money were paid for a sandwich and then I wandered around Chinatown, which was exploding all over the place with meters and meters of firecrackers and a charming red dragon bopping (which I could barely see because everyone in the Netherlands in bloody tall) in celebration of the New Year.

Now I've got delicious edibles and may just write some The Balloonist's Wife until seschat shows up for our movie night. (Oh, the squee, y'all!)


Meme - 30 Days - Day 16 → A song that makes you cry (or nearly):

"Almost Home" by Craig Morgan made me tear up mightily the first time I heard it, and it still chokes me up.

And, as an extra, here's "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" by Gary Allen, which is another little tear-jerker, but in a more hopeful way.

And lastly "Rosas" by La Oreja de Van Gogh. I don't know if it's the song that makes me cry, the whole live album, or if I just listen to this when I'm sad. Either way, it's a sad song about waiting for your love to come home (but you know it won't).
