Well, tennis shoes, and I´m not going to get to wear them much because soon itäll be summer and way too hot for them but-- shoes!
They´re real pretty too. They´s made of a velvet/leathery material and are bright green. i´m talking frog green.
Omg I´m atually excited about shoes... :)
In other news, as promised, ramblings about the difficulties of making non-canonical Mal/other pairings in Firefly, cut because I´m sure it´s not fascinating to everyone. .
Been reading and thus thiking of drabbles and pairings. Can´t seem to come up with any plausible mal-pairing. Angst, achey-breaky yearning hearts a-plenty, but do you have any idea how hard it is for Mal to get some nookie?
It´s damn hard to get him i bed with anyone without pages and pages of plot and character dev. (i.e. excuses). Damn that sad empty husk of a man. Damn him to the special hell.
...which brings me to a pairing I´m having some difficulty getting used to: Mal/River. Here the age thing seems to be more of an issue, or maybe it´s because, as I´ve said, Mal´s an empty husk of a man. Sigh. Oh, I can see the River-pinning-for-Mal (or, may more preferred situation, "suddeny appearing in his bunk" which is totally what she´d do) but not the other way around. I think the problem is that it´s so hard to get him to really open up and be happy. (Mind you, I´ve read some very convincing fics on this pairing.)
And, see, Mal/Kaylee don´ work either (without afore-mentioned pages of plot/char dev) because Kaylee´s all sunshine and puppies and "I love my captain"* (but platonically).
Mal/Inara might work, seeing as there´s all that sexual tension and omg the pinning these people hae for each other. But first hell would have to freeze and be run by flying piggies. Only then would these two kiddies get together.

It pisses me off to no end that there´s not easy slash pairing.
Let´s see... Mal/Simon. Like that´ll happen. I mean, it´d be pretty (very pretty - and oh god I once read the first part of a PWP M/S/J threesome which was hawt) but no cigar. Mainly because Mal dislikes Simon, whereas we all know that it has to be seething hatred or nothing at all if you want the slash to happen with certain characters. (Which is why Xander/Spike always held a certain charm for me.)
And besides, Simon is still trying to be a bumbling fool and woo Kaylee, and we´ve we seen? Miserable failure after miserable failure. Simon needs to relax before he can get some**.
Mal/Jayne? Wrong in so many ways it makes my brain hurt. (Although, I figure it´d be getting Jayne to cooperate with would be the main trouble.)
Mal/Wash might be interesting, but if Wash is going to be with anyone other than Zoe it better be Kaylee. (Watch "Heart of Gold" and tell me it´s not possible.)
Who´s left? Book? Yeah, I can see it now: "Mal finally found faith again in the arms of the Shepard---" oh god make it stop! It burns!
And does the fact that I totally forgot about Zoe give any indication as to the chances I see in this pairing working?
Sorry, Mal. Guess you´ll have to contend yourself with random and/or angst sex. Or Mary Sues. *waves*

And further proof that not all DVD´s are made equal. Guess since ro´s getting me the DVD I´ll just be getting the "Fruity Oaty Bar" special (plus the "Filmaker´s Journey", which I´ve downloaded***) but why does Oceania and the really cold part of Europe get a whole extra disc?
