Life: Meeting with Supervisor was had. I was a ball of nerves. Things went well regardless. I now have a date for a colloquim presentation. We are not amused.
Fandom: Watched the Fall special of Doctor Who. Ow, my hearts. The Quote of the Day sums it all up nicely. I think the Doctor was a bit of a gigantic moron in his choice of date-and-location at the end, but maybe that was on purpose because he's the Doctor and he can do anything, damnit. The preview for the next specials filled me with joy \o/ Oh, familiar faces, how I've missed you!
Nano: Still missing 227 words, but it's 2 fucking am and I can't sit at this computer anymore. Fucking bastard of a novel with hard-to-write action scenes and an angel who keeps pushing back his appearance. Icarus, boy, get your ass in here right now!

There was another soft little sound, a light and gentle sound like the rustle of feathers, cat’s footsteps or a toddler’s knees crossing the floor at it crawls. The doorknob on Saunders’ front door began to turn. Chip expected the movement to stop, stumped by the locking mechanism because Saunders had locked the door, he’d seen him do it.
But the movement didn’t stop. The doorknob kept turning slowly, ever so slowly, until the click of the latch rang loud in the apartment.
At that instant, Chip jumped to his feet, swept Agatha up along with him by the arms and dropped her down behind the sofa. Saunders was up at his side a split second later. A creak came from the door as it opened slowly and Chip dove towards it. He crashed against the wooden panel and felt it give but not close entirely. Cursing, he dug his heels against the floor and pushed, felt the paint chips flake off and stick to his skin, his shoulder wedge against the frame and splinters dig into his palm, but none of that mattered because he felt to door hold against him and refuse to close.
“Clarence!” he called over his shoulder, unable to see where the old man was. “Get my fucking ‘bar over here!”
No sooner were the words out his mouth than he heard Saunders rushing up towards him – let’s see how you hold up against metal, you lock-picking bastard – but it was too late.
The door swung open as if on oiled hinges and completely unobstructed – I’m right fucking here! – by a grown man. Chip was knocked aside and he stumbled but regained his footing quickly. Saunders, who had been just behind him, fell back heavily, the clatter of metal skidding across the floor making Chip’s heart sink.
Chip didn’t give it time to sink too far, though, and swung his fist at the intruder. The blow delivered and he followed it with a second, lower, strike. He registered skin instead of cloth and added some scratches along with his punches – no need to play fair – but he only got in one swipe and two more hits before retaliation struck.
Bastard struck hard.
Chip staggered back, his vision breaking out the bright lights like it was Christmas, and tried for a blind punch anyway.
Having your fist grabbed mid-swing, Chip learned, was completely emasculating. And painful. Very, very painful.
Fortunately, the even more painful feeling of having said fist squeezed distracted from the initial experience of swinging your fist into a metal vice.

For a while I was thinking "This isn't quite what I expected...I thought it'd be better." Then I started cheering...then I sat in horror.
