I've just had an hour meeting with my supervisor. I'm damn near freakin' elated! He's so omgwtf over Gloria, it's awesome. \o/ Y'all saw his letter of pure awesome. But to talk it out with him? *squee* He just can't wrap his head around how this woman, who's never set foot in Africa, will take the advice of governamental webpages which can't actually say, "Yes, it's perfectly safe!" because they'd get their asses sued, and can't say, "It's about as safe as you'd expect it to be as long as you're not a moron," over his own advice, when he's been working in Africa for 30 years. Again, \o/ "This woman is a pain in the...head." Doubts as to her ability to perform her job were raised with that one beautiful word, the inc- one. Oh gods, I'm all a-righteous-squee.

Still, I just got an email fromt he Exam Committee, saying, "Prior to approval of the Board of examiners, I need to have information of Gloria [...] with respect to the safety in the region you're planning to go to." So fingers crossed. And as Supervisor says, since money's already crossed hands and borders, and contracts have been signed, if she says "You cannae go" we both independently can write her very stiff letters with very stiff consequences.
