I guess it hasn't hit me yet.*
Oct. 16th, 2008 02:20 pmSometimes I'll be talking to folks about my internship and they'll go, "Omg, that's so awesome!" and I'll just go, "...yeah. Yeah, it is. Omg, it is." It just hasn't sunk in really. Apart from my dance of squee and tears of joy when first accepting, I haven't really given the whole thing much thought. I've been too focused on the proposal and its little frustrations to actually get it all wrapped up in my head.
But dudes, I'm actually doing this. Come end of Jaunary, I'll be hopping on a flight to Kenya, then driving down to Amboseli National Park and shacking up at the headquarters, where I'll be staying for over 3 months. Then I'll be out every day or so tracking lions through their GPS radios and doing transect counts of prey wildlife and local livestock and occasinally going to the game ranches north and south to chat with the Maasai.
You know what? I've just written that and still can't really believe it. There's just this haze of flail and squee and stressed-out preparations.
So some pictures:
My future home!

My future backyard!

The future drive to work!

The future next-door neighbours!
