Just finished watching The Plague Dogs on YouTube. Damn you, movie, for ending the movie there! Where's my happy ending?!? The movie is lovely, very quiet and slow, with lots of "nature shots" with the other half of the plot being recounted as a voice-over conversation between people. The repeated shots of the social-deprivation monkey hurt as all hell, and I really missed that they didn't have the worker rescue the poor thing. The fox, or "tod", was thankfully actually comprehensible in audio form, rather than the book's "I'm a gonna write the dialect down phonetically" Sheesh. And you'd think Nadsat is hard. (Also, I was totally not preparred for the tod's fate. D: )

Next up on the viewing list is Watership Down, which I haven't read but hear is depressingly sad. Sadder than crazy and/or tortured dogs starving on mountaintops then possibly drowning while the whole military's trying to gun them down from helicopters like Palin's been shipping them funds? Ha!

I ought to work a bit on my project proposal. I worked on it yesterday, but nowhere near finished. I was all ready to work on it today, waltzing off to the computer lab at 11:30 am, but it was closed. So I hung out at the Burcht taking in some sun while I read the next case study for SBB then deciding to work at the train station's coffee shop, where you can stay for hours, but it's being remodelled so I went to the park in front of the nature museum but that was overrun by folk so I sat on a concrete block and ate a cookie then went home. Frustrated. Very. This was me this afternoon.

[livejournal.com profile] capn_mactastic gave me M.

1. Magneto (X-Men) - He makes more sense than I'd like him to most times, and I know there's something sorid in his past in regards to Prof. Xavier. I like both the cartoon and movie versions :)
2. Maul, Darth (Star Wars) - He was kick-ass (thanks to Ray Park's mad skilz) despite having just a handful of minutes on-screen. The good thing is that that means there's soooo much to explore in fanfic.
3. Mohinder Suresh (Heroes) - Apart from wanting to beat him with the Science Stick, I like him fine. But he's sort of on a day-by-day acceptance trial.
4. Miles Staume (Lost) - He's a jerk, but a fun one. I can't wait to see what shenaningans he gets into nest season.
5. Morgan, Lilah (Angel) - She was all about shades of grey and not letting anyone step all over her. She was a very strong and very realistic (in that, "has both good and bad things") character. "It's a lie." "It's a Li-lah. It's a Lilah."

OMG that's so weird, I re-watched The Plague Dogs just the other day! (found a second hand copy for £2 so I had to have it) And LOL, I never thought of looking up accents on Wiki XD I've just spent a while reading the entry for Yorkshire, and it had never occurred to me before just how much we must confuse non-Yorkshire folk with "We'll stop here while it closes," (that means "we'll stay here until closing time", not 'lets stop while things are closed around us')

:D Great minds watch films alike! I only just discovered that there was a film the other day - having read the book* some years ago. Reading the fox was so hard.

Tee hee! "While it closes"! You're English is funny ♥ *YouTubes Yorkshire accent* *re-wires mental image of Mac a tad* D'aw :)

* Another of those "rescued from the library's throwaway pile" books.

I don't think I've ever read the book of that one, I read Watership Down, and Tales of Watership Down, but not Plague Dogs. I like the movie though, except for the end, which makes me feel emo (though it's the end of Watership Down that makes me cry, and then Sam alternately torments and cuddles me for being such a wuss)

Aye, while it closes, makes perfect sense to me! As does ow', now', summa', berra, and all the rest of it (though I never knew 'laiking' was a Norse word - ah ye laikin'? is "do you want to play outside")

*You Tubes Yorkshire accent* Oh bugger. I'm going to have to do that podfic after all, if you're imagining me with a Sheffield accent, I can't have that! I suppose it could be worse though, could be Barnsley...

The book!ending is much less emo. It's actually a full-blown happy ending :) Wiki it (or read the book).

:D Podfic away \o/

I may have to find the book; I don't know why I never read that one, I remember getting it from the library... maybe I read the Tod's dialect and thought nuh-uh, now way?

lol, I didn't before because I figured between the glottal stop and the lost Hs no-one would be able to understand me XD I'll see when Sam finally manages to fix my computer (need audio program)
