The Martians are coming!

bending_sickleThis evening I listened to a radio broadcasting (via 'net) of HGWells' The War of the Worlds (but not the original). Somewhere out there, the god of radio-shows read my diary and decided to bless me again. (The first time was catching The Hitchhiker's Guide on radio and 'net, thanks to J, a few days after bemoaning the fact that I'd never get to listen to it.) I really enjoyed it and think that the style (newscast) is wonderful.
In other news, I had a terrifying dream. (Egads, the mental images.) It's also bizarre, but that's not unusual. I've heard that some people have mundane dreams at times... Sigh, I'd like that sometimes. But no, I have to be sucked into a hollow tree by a baseball-playing monster, or shooting down orcs in my grandma's living room with a crossbow. S'true*.
So here's the dream:
I'm in MTL Chapters, right at what should be the foot of the stairs for going down to the parnapanelia sections. On the floor I see a yellow graphic novel and, picking it up, see that it's the first volume of NGaiman's Sandman. [I've been trying to buy the series for ages but they're never in stock in the right order, and I refuse to buy volume 4 and 6 without having 1.] So I realize that someone dropped it and there must be a new shipment of Volume 1 downstairs, so down I go. At the stacks, I get accosted by the mysterious man with the burnt face in The Shadow of the Wind by C Ruiz Zafon who's chasing the main character, trying to get all the books by a specific author in order to burn them. So I go sit on a sofa by an old man who has one book inside the other. Then I'm home, hiding the book from Evil Man in a box with papers [Probably trauma from cleaning out my boxes of academic papers] but a woman rings at the door. Then something illegible happens [yes, sometimes I don't write too hot when asleep] and Evil Man ransacks the house for the book. Then I'm in bed, which faces an open closet, talking with mom, when I see a yellow pillow in the closet shiver and fall, revealing a waving hand. [shiver] So now there's this crazy naked guy running around the house, being chased by me, then we fight and, as far as my notes seem to say, Evil Man again breaks into the house and bakes.
That last bit sounds like a surreal fic waiting to happen... I say he baked cupcakes, with pink and baby blue icing.
Totally looking forward to CSI's finale, though I haven't watched any of this season's eps, only reruns they're putting now. Am taping it though, as going to German film with mom ("Head on"). Thus spent all afternoon trying to domesticate the unruly VCR.
*Although not as amusing as K's dreams about political/historical figures and being shackled to a cave wall whilst redefining history.
