After two - count 'em, two hours and more bikinis than an octopus could carry, after struggling with straps and jiggly bits, after ascertaining that size labels are applied by warring tribes of illiterate mice, after calling up the hunter-gatherer genes to seek out The Same Thing, But Bigger, I finally - finally - bought a new bikini. It's not the awesome turquoise one, or that other turquoise one, but all my bits fit and they fit well. And I managed to find the matching bottom without the bright red truck on the ass.

The things we do for a little sun-worship. I bet priests don't have this much trouble picking sacrificial goats. "I want it fat, bleating, and tied to this post. Colour optional."

After a morning thus spent, I had lunch with Mari Carmen** and then we, along with her daughter Marta*** played Trivial Persuit. An ancient Trivia. Like, USSR and East Germany old. And also very strange, because it called the American Civil War the Sucession War. And also quite Spanish, because it had loads of questions about TVE**** shows that maybe Gran would've known. It was great. Really, that's the sort of thing I've been missing. Just hanging out with people and having fun.

And now I have to pack, clean up a bit, wash some clothes, drink the equivalent of the North Sea *is so thirsty* and maybe see what I can scrounge for supper. We'll be leaving mid-morning tomorrow - edging on midday - and gods know what I'll do once I'm there besides visiting relatives. *eyes Self Study textbook* *is mauled by textbook* Yeah, there's that.

Things are better now, but Spanish public TV still sucks. No concept of apropriate spots for commercial breaks (leading to commercials right when someone's going to get stabbed, or in the middle of a sentence) and commercial breaks of variable length (one minute or twenty, you never know), and it's plagued by competitions where it takes them ages to answer a single question. *Sickle isn't bitter and TV-starved*

i think the southern US calls it the War of Secession. this is also how many other countries call the war in their own languages. haha, i'm playing along with trivia by proxy!!

i really really hate trivial pursuit. argh.

kudos on finding a nice bathing suit, double kudos for making it a BIKINI that fits. ooh la la!

Weird. I thought everyone but the southerners called it the American Civil War.

The bikini's a halter top, which is new for me. (And no, I definately don't feel "ooh la la" in it, but at least it fits.)

Congratulations on successfully finding a bikini! I hate bikini shopping with a passion, so I totally understand the joy of finding one where everything fits well XD

Oh, and the commercials starting at random spots in a show happens in Turkey as well: It never fails to leave me thinking "eh!?". And ditto with the 30 minute long commercial breaks and game shows where it takes forever to answer the question.
