I assure you, it's much more serious than that.
Today was Market Day, so I went out for a walkabout and ate delicious things in small quantities. For example, I had delicious Broodje Haring (aka. raw herring and onion inna bun), because it's herring season. I also had Lumpia (aka Indonesian spring rolls, known in the Netherlands as loempia) and Dolmadakia (aka dolmades or dolma). Duuuuude, it was delicious.
And then I wandered into the fruit section, and what do I find? Paraguayos (Spanish), or what in English is hilariously termed "Donut Peach" and is, curiously, a descendent of the Chinese flat peaches. I freakin' love this fruit. (Mainly because I only ever had it a few weeks a year, when in Spain for the summer.) So that made me happy. Then I saw 3 mangoes for 1 euro and was momentarily happy, until I ascertained that said mangoes were very sad, very green and very squished. So no mangoes for me.
By the way, I can totally say that I've eaten in the same pancakehouse as Winston Churchill and the Dalai Lama. (Not whilst they were there of course, but hey. Oh Leiden, you seem so small and yet have so much history.) I kinda love this place.
So I carried all this to De Burcht, which is an old and tiny little fortress on a *gasp* hill. Seriously, it's tiny. And, with the wonders of flickr**, you can see it for yourselves. The Burcht, with its lovely little gate (note St. Peter's - patron saint of Leiden - keys in the shield). If you walk up the hill - and the stairs and turn around, you'll see this. Inside it's simply a round space with some wall around it, with a giant wooden toothpaste tube as bizarre decoration. Stairs are provided to go up and walk the length of the wall. I had my lunch sitting on the farther L-shapped raised stones at the entrance.
...and I've just got back from watching the Netherlands/Russia game*** (1-3) at Einstein's. Damn fine match, and holy smokes are the Russians good. But the Dutch game 'em a hard time, which is nice. No more orange in the streets, alas, as the kids get sent home. However, tomorrow's Spain/Italy. Elisa and I and off to a bar to watch it :)
There's two YouTube videos that I really want to share, and they're totally getting embedded, yo, because they're that awesome.
Relive the events leading up to the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 and see what happened on the ground and in the air at the same moment from multiple angles.
Michael Emerson's Emmy-awarded guest star performance as William Hinks in TV-series "The Practice". - Episode 5x08 "Mr Hinks Goes To Town" (2001) - I literally backed away from the computer 0:23 - 0:39.

galileah_galile described as the moment an unintimidating man becomes intimidating, and he's just spellbinding. He makes chills run down my spine!"

*** Please keep in mind that I don't particularly care about football, or know much about it. Still, European Cup and all.
