This was a triumph!*
Jun. 17th, 2008 01:48 pmI'm making a note here: huge success!*
Guess who just got a motherlovin' 9 on her internship?**
Me!
That's who!
Whoot!
*dance of victory*
You know what else? I have a meeting tomorrow with my other supervisor about a possible internship in Amboselli National Park. Like, zomg, ftw!
Woo-to-the-hoo!
Naturally, under the circumstances, I wanted to call Ma and dance a bit over the phone. Wow, was that a sucker. Naw, yeah, she's all:
"Yay, congratulations! But anyway, you worked really hard on it, so, like, duh."
Um, 'kay. Stil, acheviement? And possible new internship ftw?
"Oh. Yeah."
Ain't you happy for me?
"Have you done this? No? What about that? I can't believe you haven't done that other thing yet."
*cries*
ETA: Seriously, the porter was more ecstatic over the grade than my mom. *hmpfr*
* "Still Alive", JCoulton
** Grading scale 1-10, where 10 is "Omg this thing is so perfect, we only ever give out 10's once a century". So, basically, 9 = highest achievable grade without being God.

Date: 2008-06-17 06:53 pm (UTC)And yeah, I noticed during the Rody Soane section you were all "Is this the guy with the wife?" and I was all "Yes, because his name totally wasn't mentioned explicitly last chapter. Twice." It was an object lesson in not assuming things about my readership. ♥

Date: 2008-06-17 09:23 pm (UTC)so what would the new internship be like? less theoretical, more hands on, if it's a park...? or is this a really dumb question?
and, um, exactly how close ARE you with your porter...?

Date: 2008-06-17 10:30 pm (UTC)As for potential next internship (dependent on funds and grants and money more than anything), I have a meeting tomorrow to discuss, well, potentials. But it would entail actually going to the park. So, like, very hands-on.
And it's the porter - well, I say porter, but it's the guy behind the desk at the entrance - of my department. He's from...ooh, the vague area comprising the Middle East and lower Asia...but he speaks Spanish, so whenever I go we say hi and chat a bit. So, like, a warm acquaintance.

Date: 2008-06-18 12:52 am (UTC)i can't believe i've spent the last year thinking you were researching prairie dogs. (i actually remember discovering over christmas that you weren't in fact studying prairie dogs, but i think i forgot the very next day. so it doesn't count.)
wow. i suck.
forgive me?
