Dead again.*
Mar. 14th, 2008 09:02 pmYou'd never guess what I'm eating. Not because it's so delectable, but because it truly is "back of the cupboard" fare. It's - brace yourself - spinach cream and rice. Well, alright, not so bad. But where's the goat and delicious Indian spices that are supposed to go with it? Where, I ask you, where?
Ugh, I suck so bad at grocery shopping, even though I make a point of going absolutly famished. Last grocery-run, I wandered around the same ailes a half-dozen time and absolutely nothing jumoed out at me and begged me to take it home. Um. Metaphorically, of course. Not that I'd, oh, manhandle a grocery-man and take him home. Nope, not at all.
Really, I've got nothing to say. I'm bored out of my skull, boiling my third pot o' tea today, and choking on dry rice. Today's convo with Laura was my grand total of real-time social interaction since last Saturday, and boy, can I feel it.
I've got three things to say. Four. The fourth, which'll be the first, is that I'm simultaneously a) starving, b) full and c) nauseaus. o.0 Well, that's interesting.
Points 1-3 are these:
1) The actor who plays Chromartie (aka Kester) in T: TSCC was in No Country For Old Men. Was he still disturbingly Terminator-esque in his social-ineptitude? Yes, yes he was. Was he also disturbingly adorable, in part due to said ineptitude? Yes.
2) No Country... is a very quiet movie. Very. Like, it was filmed during wabbit sweason, quiet. And while nice, it lacked a certain oomf. That big crescendo and little denuement that tells people, yes, the plot is moving, you'll have to stand up soon, it's almost over. And I'm a bit surprised that Bardem won so many Best Actor awards for his portrayal. I mean, yeah, he's creepy just standing there, being all inexpressive but... Well, that's it. They don't do much. Everyone just walks about somewhat menacingly or somewhat hurt and *shrug*. It's acting finesse, sure, but was it really that big a challenge? The Sea Inside, now that was wow-inducing. (Regardless, go Bardem!)
3) Atonement is a very pretty movie. However, I was a bit disapointed. Sure, nothing happens in the book, not really, but even less happens in the movie. The Walk of Death, how could they have cut it? Sheesh. Still, the soundtrack was awesome, amazingly frelling awesome, especially integrating typewriter clicks as the percussion. I read somewhere that that reminded someone of the Master, and I must agree. Poor dear Briony, alone in her head with thedrums typewriter clicks.
ETA: The ending was, however, awesome except it broke my heart! Let me believe, damnit! What's the point of a merciful lie if you tell me the truth!
Now, I'm going to lie back and try to get this headache to go the fuck away, and my food to stay down, and omg it's hot and and and yeah, I'm watching Gene Genie and his merry band of coppers in 1980s London. It better be damn good. Lost disappointed me this week - though I adore Sun and Jin, I really do - because again, nothing happened. Well, Sayid was hot and awesome, but that's his basic level of being. Oh, Sayid :)
I need to get out more. I'm starting to sound a bit jibbery.
