Modern anaesthetists have at their disposal a variety of muscle relaxants for use in anaesthesia. [...] However, because the muscle relaxants have no effect on consciousness, it is possible, through error or accident, that a patient may remain fully conscious and sensitive to pain during surgery, but unable to move and thus unable to alert attending staff to their state of awareness. This problem is now greatly solved by BIS monitor. - Wiki: Curare**

*squirms liek woah*

I'm halfway to getting Heroes 2x09 (round about an hour), but seeing as I'm halfway through diner, need to shower (oh god, warmth!) and was dropping dead asleep in my morning lecture (and then worked nonstop until 8 pm tonight), I don't know if I'll watch it.

So no spoilering me if you know what's good for you.

** wikied thanks to this amusing [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes quote+thread and vague (and possibly erroneous) memory that that's what was in the "special chai, Mohinder-style". It's all-natural!

That prospect scares the shit out of me!! Eeeeek >_< (at the top of the list alongside being buried alive)

My top list fear is a shark getting a bellyfull of me whilst swimming. So. Exposed.

That and finding a corpse in the bathtub. (It's not just me! (poetic-title = cool) (http://tomoland.blogspot.com/2007/11/ill-be-corpse-in-your-bathtub-useless.html) And there was a fantasy book Victor lent me, which I hardly read, that had corpses mysteriously appearing in the character's grandma's bathtub every night.

Oh, come on! you knew I was wierd before this!

I'd actually find that interesting. Unpleasant, but interesting.

sensitive to pain!!! *flail* Surgery! with pain! and all strapped down and unmoving! with pain!

But yes, interesting. For 0.05 seconds. Now gimme morphine.

(Brain surgery, though, sounds really neat, because conscious = yes and pain = no.)

Ah, but I'd be all paralyzed and uable to fuck up the surgery by thrashing around, and it'd only hurt until it was all done. So beforehand I'd be able to say "hmm, sounds cool, let's try it" and afterwards I'd be able to say "I never want to do that again, but it was hella neat!".

I'm strange. XD
