The weekend has landed. *

What have I ever done to the Dutch train system that it would mock me so? Both for the first day of class and today, exam day, the trains were delayed. Luckily, I've taken to riding the train that lets me be in class 15 minutes early, so the 15 minute delay just meant I had to walk really fast to class. Doing stats while hot and sweaty? Not fun. However, exam went well.
And now, I drink tea and check out the internet until it's movie time. (I'm scampering back to Leiden to watch Blackbook with the ISN (Intl. Student Network).)
Today, Blackbook; tomorrow, Stardust! *squees like omg squee*
ETA: On Google's homepage, it's got "Luciano Pavaroti". Not, "LP's birthday", not, "LP's first time on-stage", just...Pavaroti. Is it Pavaroti-day or something?
Links of the Day:
Human Traffic (1999), with John Simm, is on YouTube. Part 1. This is why I love YouTube.
A "Han Shot First" shirt, for those so inclined.
Thanks to listening to this beautiful piano rendition of Greensleeves, I went looking for free piano sheet music. The fruits of the search are this, this and this. Gods, I miss the piano...
metaquotes brings us two song parodies (here, by
shaysdays and here by
captainsblog) about Heroes. I ought to track down all the other song- and poem-parodies this comm's come up with and slip 'em under a tag.
metaquotes and Heroes also brings us a lovely discussion on the protrayal of Irish accents, Koreans in Japan and chidren speaking non-native languages at home, and steroetyping in the media. (I almost wrote but deleted a wikified response to one of
whitearab's comments, 'cause I hoped figured they were only referring to the Apocalyptico!Mayans. But man, righteous indignation at ignorance apparently makes me type.
metaquotes also brings us a Writing is Like War metaphor by
cmpriest (context has great comments too).
Also on
metaquotes, yet another TV show that ought to be made: Ninja Chef.
joereaves's metaquoted line:
"The chef crept around the building looking for a window to climb through = bad (unless he's planning some kind of ninja cookery raid where he breaks in, whips up a three course meal, and then vanishes like the wind).",
inspired
slytherinblack:
"I feel like that last could be a new cooking show in the Food Network. There's the Take Home Chef, where he grabs someone in the supermarket and asks if he can come home and cook them dinner. It's only a small jump to breaking in and cooking for them while they're out."
