I then went to the movies to watch Das Leben Der Anderen, which was really good. (Don't believe me? Won Oscar for best Foreign Film, and has another 33 awards and 10 nominations.) The character of Hauptmann Gerd Wiesler (played by Ulrich Mühe) was incredibly sympathetic - a clear case of actions louder than words. The man rarely says anything, or does anything, too overt. There's a lot of quiet scenes of him, where he's thinking, but the audience just sees the results.
