Where there is no game there are no poachers.*

Finished More than Life yesterday (and it was good). Should refrain from starting Inconvenient, because too much of a good thing can be bad for the ol' eyeballs. (As in, try not to stare at the computer screen for hours and hours.) In fact, might want to get serious with The In-Between World of Vikram Lall, particularly since I'm in the third and last section.

My fanism for Firefly seems to be waneing, though I'll try to catch up on these few series I'm lagging behind:

Firefly: the Virtual Season

I seem to be pretty loyal to my fandoms, even for extended periods of time, but then the steam runs out and I move on. (There is, of course, the ocasional fling "just for old times sake".) Yet in every fandom, I find a one, occasionally two, authors who completely represent the utter best of the fandom, whose stories are the "creme de la creme", so far as my searching has provided. (I also seem to be pretty loyal to certain characters in each fandom, which is not surprising.)

The first fandom I read fics in was BtVS sometime around '97 or '98. Yet it wasn't until, oh, 2001, that I found gold: Mary's series at All ABout Spike - which was a gold-mine in itself.

I skimmed through Planet of the Apes fics, of which there are practically none, and X-Men, which had some pretty neat stuff, most notably the Common People stories (i.e. civilian-mutants).

Then, if I remember correctly, there was the great and wonderful joy that was The Sith Academy, created by the wonderful Siubhan, where I also found jedimom's NonCanon "Hell" series (which you can read in full if you email/join a YahooGroup). You can credit my (limited) Star Wards appreciation to this site. I did wander about other sites, and found the other jewel: Knight Moves by Iaga.

After that, I scampered into The Chronicles of Riddick, though the exploration didn't go very far. There was a lovely trilogy, which, as I think I posted in late 2005, I think isn't online anymore. Can't recall any important names about it either. Sorry. (Thankfully, I saved it to disc, which is what I'm now doing to every note-worthy fic I read.)

After that, there was Firefly, as I'm sure you're all aware. See above list for faves.

Then, after a short glance into Secret Window, I'm firmly entrenched in OUaTiM. I've not read widely in this fandom, but there are already two whom I respect and adore: Scarlett Burns and Neon Daisies / rythmteck. Both are amazing writers. (As I'm sure I've said many a time.)

I guess the next step would be PotC, though the short peeks I took into FF.net when CotBP came out scared me. (I later realized this was due to FF.net's ability to attract MarySue-ism, rather than the fandom in general.) I'll be taking Neon Daisies hand into this wild world, so at least it'll start off safe.

Yay, we're quadrant-buddies! I've always been very "meh" on politics, but I guess there is some truth to the quiz. (Although, initially, I was all, "Socialist? Me?")
