I shall stand fast.*
Jan. 10th, 2007 12:07 pmI've started looking into European universities. This is even more urgent with each review of application requirements and moentary calculations.
I hate the damn gringo beurocracy.
So I'm going to start with this list of universities in the Netherlands on Wiki.
I guess I'll focus on the major cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague (Den Haag), Utrecht, Eindhoven.
There appears to be surprisingly little variety of Bio programs. However, if I do go to Europe, I'd do a Masters, which is 1-2 years. You have no idea how reassuring I find this.
And I have no idea what to study to be a translator (other than "translation studies"). Though it's interesting that "one translates best into the language that one knows best."
Major "ugh" all around, textured with various screams.
On a side note, I'm still a confuzzlement of anger, sadness and fear. The little Sands icon*** is small comfort (though it be a thing of beauty)..
There's some NSFW**** fanart by
literarylemming on Jan 8's entry of
rayne_shippers, and there's quite a few Next of Kin and Angel chapters updated.
Do that meme of "10 fictional characters you'd have sex with" (as seen on
earthwhatwere's LJ).
And check out all the sites (+) on Neil's post.
Read
slammerkinbabe's post on male rape.
Check out the giant realistic scultpures of people by Ron Mueck.
* Kindgom of Netherlands' Motto, "Ik zal handhaven."

(+) "Horn Book article on the use of Mary Sues in school fiction, this Stewart Lee article on humour, a wonderful Ursula LeGuin article about fantasy from the New Statesman, Jane Espenson's blog filled with terrific writing tips, (...) an article about a recent case of human hibernation. Also Terry Jones on the sums of war. Oh, and a Good Omens Lexicon."
