update on the whole “not going blind” thing

so. the blob. it’s still there, occasionally throwing some disco lights, and yesterday and today it looked like it had fuzzier, larger edges, which yay, and when i was reading up on the normal blind spot, i realized that the blob is right at that spot. which less yay because yes, we all have a blind spot there, but we’re not constantly staring at it, which i basically am.

anywho, i went to the ophthalmologist again today for my visual field test, the automated “stare at the inside of an egg and click the clicker if you see a light somewhere” version, and my god it is fucking exhausting. and stressful. and boring as fuck. but i got to wear a pirate eye patch so, y’know. i think i was at it like half an hour and when i got home i was like dark. lying down. in the dark. all the dark. dark dark dark.

aaaanyway, turns out that yes, the blind spot is where the optic nerve is all hiya retina! and there’s also something funky going on with my left eye, which up till now i’d thought was a-okay but traitor.

yeah so i’m seeing a neurologist on thursday and getting some resonance imaging done (was it MRI? maybe. idk, i was scared.) because the ophthalmologist can only see so far as the eyeball and everything looks fine on his end except things are obviously not fine because blind spot.

he said i shouldn’t worry.
