Recurring thoughts while writing - This sucks oh my god this sucks so hard I don't know what to write this is like trying to chew through concrete oh gods make it stop this is so boring nothing is happening how do I get them to where things happen but no I hate writing things happening why did I think this was a good idea?!

Chip sighed and hauled himself up to his feet, wincing as pain coursed down his arms and back. “I’ve turned into an old man,” he grumbled as he went to sit down beside Agatha. “How did you have a big day, Aggie?”

The girl shrugged. “Got to turn on a car.”

Chip reached up to ruffle her hair. “Spare no details.” As the girl told them about helping Saunders fix one of the camp’s salvaged cars, describing how she handed over tools, learning names like pliers and vice grips and her favourite, the monkey wrench, wriggled under the car, stuck her hands into the engine and got grease all the way to her elbows. The more she talked the more animated she became, until finally she was miming how she sat in the driver’s seat, hands up almost to her face as they gripped the steering wheel, how she slid down a little to reach the pedals, and the noise, the cough-cough-cough-putt-vroom.

Yes! You are doing it! You are doing all the things and you're only a wee bit behind and you will catch up and I am so proud of you and I'm tearing up inside. Okay, that last part was a bit over the top. Not really tearing up at all. But, you know, WOOOOOOO!

you're only a wee bit behind and you will catch up - I'm actually ahead though, because 11587 is my word count for day 6 (goal: 10002) so don't scare me like that!
