Will I be able to wrap this all up in 6,400 words? Who knows! All I know is I'm very close to the end, or at least as far as I've thought it all out. I was planning on ending with Chip and co driving on back to Seattle but a) I have no idea how to get them to that point and b) that would be a stupid move from a tactical point of view. So I don't know where this is ending up, but at least it's finishing. \o/
Maybe I'll end up writing a tiny little coda epilogue where they do go to Seattle. I don't know.

There was a storm that night of almost biblical proportions. Sheets of cold autumn rain hits the roofs and windows like a hundred slamming hands. Lightning flashed right above them like strobe lights at a discoteque, making everything appear to move in fits. Thunder didn’t so much roll as flatten everything within earshot, making talking impossible for sometimes minutes at a time.
"Man, can you believe the storm we’re having?" said Chip, wincing as another thunderclap blasted the room. Agatha clapped her hands over her ears and pressed her face into Saunders' arms.
"I can, actually," said the old man. "It rained like this the night Icarus fell."
